for the sake of £20 per corner might as well save myself some cash and get 195/50's then. i only thought it was about £5-10 max per tyre, but not £20!

does anyone have any pics of there car which is also lowered 60mm, which is on 195/50's? obviously won't quite fill the arches as much, but i'm guessing it's pretty negligible?

depends where abouts it is mate? if it's 100 miles each way (which if you're london it probs is) then 200 miles petrol is another £40-50.

for the toyos i got quoted £180 all fitted etc.
how worn are they?

Pistonheader, pics of my car in the ACE cafe meet last month, has 195/50/15 Toyo R888's on it. Can't measure the drop though as they're coilovers:)

195/50/15 on 6J up front and 195/50/15 on 7J at the back, -60mm on your own suspension fitted to your car!!

And proof I did at one stage actually drive an E21...

It's a tyre shop so they usually have stuff in stock. I'll get their number for you. They always have quality stuff in stock but I was lucky with the Toyos. Usual stuff is Pirelli or Fulda. Still quality rubber at ditchseeker special prices.

Had Rob not been like a bullet from a gun and been first, I have a set of P6000's sat here in just the size you need.

no worries about it mark. so you reckon with some half decent 195's on the front and rear, it should go round the corners a lot better than 165mm bicycle tyres only ever driven one other car with 195's on and thats a 2004 plate seat ibiza so not really comparable to drive by any means, but it did have an awful lot more grip. but a lot of that is surely due to far more modern suspension and chassis set up etc????

drjim gave me 15mm spacers which would take the ET24 to ET9, with ET13 being optimal so i was going to just buy some 10mm ones....but my dad said he can just get one of his employees to grind and lap the face so it's down to 11mm spacers...making it perfect

Unless you drive like a twat on public roads, 195's will give you all the grip your likely to need.

My own personal preference, out of the brands of tyre I have tried, is Toyo but they are pretty soft so wear accordingly. Pirelli were OK'ish but I wouldn't have them again. Fuldas were better and Nankang were OK'ish in the dry and scary when it rained. This is just my opinion though and I am just an average driver with average ability.

i don't drive like a twat only time i ever push my car is on quiet mountain roads, and even then i'm not exactly on the limit. it's too much risk to get that extra 5mph or so in a corner. that's one thing i do love about the E21, you don't have to drive silly speeds to have fun. only 2 reasons i want to get those wheels and wider tyres on. 1 - i think they'll look better, and 2 - 165's in the wet don't offer enough for my liking.

down here in south wales, there is a road with a really, really tight hair pin, and it was wet once, and i really really struggled to get up it (it's uphill) because my wheels were just spinning. you have to go round in 1st gear because it's so tight. i was coming up this (it's tighter than it looks!):
