So started the exhaust build today, got about is far as cutting the back box off then spent the rest of my time figuring out how i'd put it together, and in what configuration. In the end i decided i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of having a pipe at either side of the car, as it looked like it would just get ripped off if i bottomed out, which you do a lot on my roads! So instead i got the hacksaw out and turned it into a double exhaust where the original used to be. Should look pretty good, i'm hoping anyway. Just waiting for some u-bolt clamps and some sealant to arrive so i can finish up.
Biggest problem with the kit, bar my lack of patience, is that the clamps that come with it are too big, they don't go nearly tight enough to hold it all together.
The car sounds amazing with just the back box cut off! If its not too loud, the middle box is coming out too.

On my old 320, we removed the centre box and went with a single silencer iirc.

Well middle box out would mean no silencers!
Sounds good, did you think it was loud enough when you were there, or even too loud?
Chopped the hole in the bumper for the tailpipes today and ground down some other bits of rust on it, ready for a wee bit filler and primer. But in the process found a ruddy great rusty hole in the corner of the bumper (the seam) so cut it out and treated it with some hammerite anti rust stuff, but it now means i have to go around with this hole until I get a welder The new section of pipe were also treated to some vht paint. Talking of paint, I need to find somewhere to buy or mix my paint in to aerosol cans for me, halfords had the instructions for mixing it from the code but didnt have the right colours to mix up, and apparently none of their stores do.
Hennarot 052 if anyone was wondering.

The clamps and sealant should be here tomorrow, finally! So will get the exhaust finished up.
My mate who's into rat look cars suggested ratting the e21 since its already full of rusty holes, but i'm thinking non of you would approve of that? lol
On another note i was wondering how many bike carbs it would take to run the 320/6 engine? as a stop gap at the moment until i can afford to buy a 2.5 and triple webbers.

my mate joe, who is king in the rat contry loves the idea of ratting a BMW but refuses to let me do it to an e21 saying that it would be a shame and i think i would have to agree.

Personally, I think the whole rat thing has been done to death now anyway.

Don't do it! There are too few cars in good condition, you can't ruin one on purpose lol!
I don't mind rat-look cars, and know a few people with them, but they're VW's...so not such a loss with the numbers of them on the road

I might well take you up on that Jason. What kind of Webers? Dcoe's?
And as for the rat idea, it was only that, an idea, because of my sheer laziness haha, I could of just left it how it is!
But no, its getting a strip down, all the rust sorted and then a paint job, when i can afford it.
Exhaust almost got finished today, until i took it for a run and found it was making a strange noise, yes the driveshaft was knocking great dents into the pipework! (schoolboy error I know) That should be sorted now, just some finishing touches like making the hole around it a bit bigger so it doesnt rub, then its done.
Here's what it sounds like:
That was it unfinished, and i believe thats steam
