But there is something that wasn't so clear to me...: is this bar something I can find and buy (as I understand it is an Alpina product??) ready to fit, or is it something that I can copy and fit?

I fitted my Hartge strut brace to my otherwise-standard (except for lowering) 323i; neglible difference in turn-in, it seems to carry more speed into corners (although that could just be my bravado) BUT I don't get the 60mph 'shimmy'.

what is "shimmy"

It's a judder that e21's commonly get through the steering at 50 to 60 mph. I think it's partly for that reason that the ''Wunder bar'' was fitted as it braces the front suspension and ARB mounting points up front.

It's a pretty simple device and can be either bolted or welded in. It's simple to make although I think they can be found for sale?

Mark, I just bought this item...(hope it'll be good...)
Is this a bar that is added on the existing front antiroll bar?
And, about the case of adding the whiteline one? (which I haven't yet ordered)... Can it be added afterwards? Should this one be removed if already fitted?
Which is the proper order that these add ons to the front suspension should be done? (from the factory version phase to the "everything done" phase...), please ?

I got an idea.

after looking @ the wunderbar, it realy looks like a panhard bar, wich you can find on opels, fords etc.
buy a panhard bar (10 pounds or so) cut it in half, fit it on the front suspension, cut it further in to pieces so it will connect and weld it back together.

you could alsu buy an adjustable panhard bar like this, and adapt it....

Ok...Spent a lot of money for today...
Ordered the stress bar from ebay (ouch!!! double the price for posting to Greece!)
And a Hartge strut bar from Walloth+Nesch...
Hope to enjoy this money...(and hoping that I'll find out how to fit the stress one, the strut bar is easy)
I still have not a found out whether this stress bar has to be removed if I fit the whiteline antiroll bar (front one that mounts on the existing one)

Keep them both!

Here you can see where it bolts on and runs across front of chassis and acts as a brace.

No drilling needed.

I got the one mark had madeup very easy to do, an even better solution would be to weld a bit of tube across the front chassis rails you need about £5 worth of tube. If you get an e21 up in the air and drop of the front arb links, then grab the arb and twist it you can see the chassis flex in the area around the arb to chassis mount.
