either leaking from the dizzy, from some wear under the front cover and running out, gasket, cam seal or crank seal, or running out from the head gasket.
Get an aerosol of brake cleaner and giver it good clean, fire the engine up and watch

Thanks Jason...i'll pay attention to these areas, think it looks more like from the distributor but could be wrong. Hopefully it'll be another rain free day tomorrow so i can get a better look.
Not sure DrGonzo...not to familiar with this engine yet.....i was an e36 man before now
Also been trying to figure out what type of weber carb i have, part number on receipt is 18930 920 but searching the web i can only see 18930 020 which says its the 38 DGEV (replacement for solex). There is also a tag on the carb itself with 14002 361 5 but cant really find anything for this number....anyone else have a weber carb fitted to their m20 and does your part number differ. I'm wanting to order a nice filter for it and then get it tuned so what to be sure i'm ordering for the right carb

Hi, I've a Weber fitted to my 320 and its a 38DGAS, the part number is 18930920, which I would think your's is. This is the info sheet which came in a box of tricks that was in the boot along with a reciept for £251 back in 1994. Hope this helps. Colin

Try a Clay bar before you use any compounds. It will clean the dirt from the paint and the chances are you won't need T-Cut.
It's poxy stuff anyway and Red cars seem to show the swirl marks.
Nice car,by the way.The perfect colour for an E21!!

Brilliant- thanks v much Colin, that info sheet will come in handy. Just out of interest how often do you get your carb tuned? Mine needs one as the auto choke doesn't seem to work anymore, sparks were black and i'm getting 15mpg lol
Thanks m3gaz, agree with you, the colour is the reason i purchased this car....and if i'm honest the price did too lol but always wanted one in red! Its the lacquer that requires polished up as its a bit dull at the mo, the colour of the paint is quite good though, no fading.
