I'm not familiar with these Volvo engines, are they even stronger than the M10? At least they're 16v and have DOHC
Yes the main reason was that it has 16 valves and DOHC.
Next step with M10 would be M parts and everybody knows how expensive that is..?!
That Volvo engine is very strong allso and the head has good potentials. In Sweden they take lots of Horsepower of those.

This Volvo engine is very strong!
And M10 allso very strong but when you want more rpm you must have 16valves!
With Bmw your only choice is S14 and thats not cheap.
