Gaz are good value for the price and the service has been top notch compared to the service I had from LEDA, there are other of the shelf suppliers but once you start taking to motion/proflex/ast it's about £3k as set. The cheap option is some adjustable golf mk2/e30 front inserts and modifying the front struts with a rally design coilover kit and cheap generic rear coilovers with modified top mounts, search for wizor's build thread.

That's more like it :). A helpful answer.

As for the rest, I'm not hear to talk about gaz and if you run them I'm not slagging off your car. My friend is the editor of a well known magazine ( before you say it, no not fastcar or redline, a proper mag) and he has had a lot of bad experiences with them. I see spax mentioned and my god they are even worse, harsh, crashy and then leak.

I'm looking for people that have thought outside the e21 box and found something new.

All I was asking was why you would have come to the conclusion you did and If I'm honest your comments are more than a little patronizing. Has your friend written about his experiences with Gaz as I would be intrigued to see if his experiences mirror my own?

for the price you wont get better than a spax kit. with the shocks set on weak damping its very acceptable on the road. mines a daily driven car spax kit is 3 years old soon done maybe 8-10 drift days, paint's peeling off the springs etc but no shocks are leaking yet..... and atleast you can buy the shocks singulary if they do.

might look an arse but it fooking works lol.

I've had my gaz coilovers for a year now. I have no problems with it and I am happy with the way it handles.
