murran wrote:jim when you set them cold you need to take into account the fact the pressures will be higher when the tyre temp rises.
the 28 psi in that tyre will increase to around 36/7 when the tyre is fully up to temp.
it not an exact science but for example, with brands, setting them when cold id go with 21/22psi in the n/s/f, 22/24 psi in the o/s/f and maybe 24 in both rears?
but deffo go out do 3-4 laps to get the tyres up to temp, then come in the pits jump out and check them before they have chance to cool off and then adjust them when hot to the 28 psi all round (or what ever you want them to be when on track and up to temp).
also after this, when they do cool off, take note of what pressures they drop to..... that way you can set the pressures to that when cold, then when your on track and up to temp you know theyre guna be correctish without checking them again.
^^^^^^ hope im making sence with this waffle???
That's pretty much what I do. I'm starting to wonder if that one tyre might have been faulty as after checking them all closely today, it's the only one that's blistered. I've mailed the supplier to see what they say anyway.

Belgian Tuur Vanden Abeele doing very well in the Belgian Historic Rally Championship winning the 2011 title. Sad news though, the car is up for sale atm and he will be joining the modern cars with a Polo Super 2000 in 2012. 300BHP @ 8500RPM and 4WD doesn't sound too bad but it would be too smooth for me!

Great idea this!
love the E21s in action
Also worth getting a tyre pyrometer
you can learn a lot about set-up etc from tyre temperatures across the tyre
once set-up you won't damage your tyres (much)- I still have a set of Yoko 008Rs- must be 5 years old for practice= even set up (on Butch)
hopefully here is our tyre temp sheet (seems to have lost the formatting lines - sorry!)

Block is bored to 86 mm (3.4 in) and the 89.6 mm (3.5 in) crank is used for 3.15 liters. It has been reported that engine-builders have bored out as far as 86.4 for an even 3.2 liters but this is beyond the generally accepted design limitations of the M20 block.

OK perhaps these pics are not of an e21 in competition but I can't resist. Here is our $500 Chump Car errrr, pickup truck. With 1.8 litres and possilby 100hp of fury under the hood it's a real rocket, let me tell you.......not
It is truly a pile of junk and should have been sent to the crusher. With some new sheet metal where the floor used to be and a few sheets of plywood it lives to take on its new task of crapcan endurance racing.
