Nice! BTW the yellow, seems to bright to me to be one of the original E12 or E21 yellows Golf or Korona so might be a non original color.

It is Golf yellow. We had a look at an old BMW colour booklet yesterday.

Only concern is cost really. I might see if I can find a bodyshop willing to sponsor the build with some paint? Even just getting it at cost would be a help.

Save money and leave the colour as is and buy some decent brakes

Decided to stick with red. In fact, going to go with red & satin black so that it matches the e30 track-car. The e30 will also be available to hire for track-days, sprints etc.

Anyway, the cage landed yesterday. It's better than some of the off-the-shelf cages I have seen recently.

Also dug out a pair of Engellman mirrors and started cleaning the rims.

The shell goes up to Nas & Jacko next week to take its place in the queue. :)

Slight change of plan. Instead of the red shell we are now using this 316 as the base for the track car build. The main reason being that the shopping list for parts, to get the red shell rolling, was getting expensive. All those little bits & bobs all add up and it was cheaper to buy this and have the added benefit of a years MOT into the bargain.

So, the plan is to strip the interior out, fit cage, poly windows, race seat & harness and the hot m10 I'm getting from Jim. I am also fitting fiberglass bonnet, boot & wings. It's just a far simpler / quicker build this way and that makes it cheaper in the long run. It's sad that such a mint, black e21 is going to be tracked but I'm sure I'll get over it. ;)

On a side note, the e30 is coming along nicely too. Just all the remaining red bits to be painted orange and wilwood conversion left.

You nearly weren't getting an M10 at all.

Went to unit today to look for some bits/bobs. Found car parked outside covered in frost. When Jason arrived he said the lads didn't want to drive it back in as it had chucked all its oil out on the floor when they started it (pootled it outside then returned to find big pool of oil). I stuck some more oil in and started up - instant puddle. On closer inspection the o-ring has blown out of the filter, presumably cold thick oil that hasn't been stirred for a couple of months now gave it enough pressure to pop it out. Anyway I have put a new filter on, refilled with oil and it keeps oil in, has good pressure and doesn't make any nasty noises. It was a cheapo filter, so it could just be faulty. Would have been much worse if it happened on track, goodbye engine potentially.

In the picture above I see an e30 and a couple of e21's - whose are they???
