Did a magazine photo shoot last weekend and took the snapper out for a blast. Lets just say he was ''suitably impressed'' and thought it sounded like an e46 CSL in the cabin.

Thanks for your welcome guys. And thank you Nas for posting. I didnt realise the m52 would bring it up to e46 m3 speeds, sounds perfect for what i'm looking for

We definetly need to have a chat at some point, and if i can come along to a meet with you guys and experience a ride with someone who has had the conversion then that would be perfect. I will concentrate initially on the bodywork side of the car and then organise the engine side of things. Really looking forward to getting the car down the bodyshop this week to discuss plans.
I may be better off starting a different thread but i have a couple of questions regarding the body before i order anything. This may sound very stupid, so i apologise in advance

but, the white car and the black car with flared arches in my first pics, the white is an E21 and black a 2002?
What arches are they using, mcracing? And therefore what arches are on the grey one as they are bigger. I much prefer the look of the white and black and think i may have read they were mcracing but made smaller?
What side skirt is on the white one or is it just custom made?
I like the style of the black front bumper over the white one, what options do i have available that can suit these flared arches?
And finally where is a good place to order these parts?
Sorry for all the questions, would just rather use valuable knowledge from you guys than order the wrong things. Sadly it seems my lovely BBS Mahle's will be up for sale as some wider wheels will be required for the arches

Gaz you pm'd the wrong person you plum! lol
Christian, Glad your getting the bodywork done and im sure a black e21 with wide arches and some nice fat alloys would look awesome, besides that your car wont ever lose the value of what you have spent.
Just make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb and make sure all the rust is gone and you have a guy who has patched it up nicely! make sure your bodyshop take a photo log of the work you have had done if you enter it into concours, you get extra points and reassures people when the time comes to shift it on.
If you want the swap done then myself and Jacko should have everything setup by the time your bodywork has been completed. We are still setting up a new workshop and by then if everything goes well we will have completed 3 or 4 of our own cars, and two others we have booked in.

Christian, Welcome to the Forum Mate
Good bunch of experts here and think twice of every step you think of doing on an E21 and make sure you dont get bored quickly
Nas, as Mark mentioned now you have electricity and developed in where you live. I am happy to hear about the workshop and keep up posted as I am thinking of swapping my M10 1.8 to an M50 or similar

Well the car has been on the ramps and had a good checkover. Couple of bushes to change but overall it looks in nice condition
After discussing the flared arches i've decided i couldnt live with the risk of them cracking by being blended in, which is going to be likely. I'm not as keen on seeing the rivet joins to do it that way either. I will leave them stock. I also feel the car needs to stay black rather than the dark gunmetal, keeping it more original, but most likely a different black. I like the idea of losing the chrome bumpers, side strips smoothed in and a deeper front skirt, possibly the Alpina.
Looking forward to stripping it down

'Course he did.... I tried to look after it as well as I could!!!
Good to see how the car is coming on Christian... I'd be meaning to reply to your text and send you my email address for ages! The seats look great refinsihed, I like the more matt look of them.
I know I'm biased as I had the car looking the way I wanted it when I sold it to you! but I think the black with those 15" Mahles is a great look. As for the side stripes they're not to everyones tastes, but are original to the car and so many people have removed theirs now that I used to get comments on how good they looked and how it kept the car looking period.
I know exactly what you mean about it needing a bit mroe kick. I had a e30 325i motorsport convertible prior to the e21, and an old 911 before that, and although there was plenty out there that was faster they felt a lot brisker than the 323i.
I think if I'd kept it I would have gone for a respray eventuall (in black) and kept everything else as standard, just for the simple fact that original, unmodified e21s are rarer and rarer, and that in itself seem to get a lot of comments from people when I took the car out. But... I didn't keep it, so who am I to say!!
By the way, Stag ownership has proved interesting so far.... cooling issues, engine out, heads skimmed, new prop, uprated cooling system.... and a number of other problems addressed issues, but lukily all done by the garage I bought it off. Have only had it back for 3 days and now just waiting for some good weather for a bit of roof down v8 action!
Good luck with the car.... I'll be watching you thread to see how it comes along.
Cheers, Paul
