Ah i see. With that registration i recon you are going to Sabah? I have no idea how the part supply is over there, but in Kuala Lumpur you can get just about anything for a E21. Maybe the cheapest and best to put some parts in the bag on your way down.

Ok, let me know if you need directions. I know a couple of BMW places in KL for Spare-parts. Have a nice trip to KK, I just came from there two weeks ago.

Took it for an "MOT" yesterday, only failed on not having a third brake light. Carb defo needs a tune/rebuild and the drivebelt broke on the way the back so I hope the HG hasn't gone.
Here it is outside the MOT station:

A lot of people recomend junking the original carb off a 320/6 as it is difficult to set up and thirsty and replace with a Weber 48 (I think)
the experts can advise which one to use.........................

well the solex i feel is a lemon especially in this country where its really hot. the carb body warps and vacuum leaks on the body means never getting a proper tune.
i went through two carbs trying to rebuild a proper one and all of them were found to have problems here and there.
you could go with a weber set up as i did some research on it and its a pretty good replacement. just need an adapter and you could use the stock manifold.
or... junk the whole carb set up and plonk in a motronic injection system off an E30. did the install in the garage myself and the wiring wasnt such a headache. many many write ups online that helped guide me step by step. runs nicely too..
