Partly because the e21 doesn't have a flat floor to ease installation. Because e21 have dual circuit brakes you have no option but to either a) run stock servo & linkage, b) run no servo and convert the cylinders to bolt to bulkhead as above, c) convert cylinders and run the SVC dual remote servo or d) fit an aftermarket pedal box.

If there was any way of simply turning the OE servo around I'm pretty sure someone (including BMW) would have done it.
bias box also costs £500 in parts alone before you even got it in the car and theres all sorts of maths and you need to work out what will go with calipers that your using etc.

haha that would be me with the primer, dont worry, its not like that now!

ah right, seen a couple pics online of e21s with servos on the bulkhead, just assumed they were standard items on some models!

thankyou all for the help. il have a look around some scrappies and see what i come up with. failing that, il just have to paint it untill i have the money to take it for a professional to look at.

if my system comes through then I don't mind helping out making you one, but no matter what you do theres probably no easy or cheap solution.

If you cut the big long bar away from the bulkhead side youll find the hole in the pedal box is right size to bolt a master directly there. If you drill a hole and then move the clevis higher up the pedal arm and ensure the rod to the master is inline, you could run without a servo eg like a mk1/2 polo. You might want to get a smaller / larger master though or go to a gym as that means you will need to stamp on them fairly hard.

Theres nowt worse than crap brakes, seriously... Have a good think about it before you do anything.
