Ha ha ha thanks guys. i'm an engineer by trade so tidiness is a must in my line of work. its far more productive to have a clear workspace.

im 90% sure this has never been done before so I thought i'd post up some pictures of when I was fabricating the mounts for the e36 m3 rear subframe, this I must stress is not a job for the feint hearted. a lot of cutting and chopping and soooooo much measuring and maths it gave me a headache on many occasion.
I made a tunnel in between the rear wheel arches to put some strength into the body and to support the mounts in the floor, in this picture you can also see the tubes that locate onto the e36 rear carrier.
this shot of the arch you can just see the plates at the back of the sills that I made to hold the front of the rear trailing arm bushes.
apologies for this photo its a little blurry but you can see here the rear beam I welded into the body between the rear arches to hold the rear two subframe mounting points
here is view of the inside from the drivers rear quarter window showing the reinforcing plates to the front of the rear subframe mounting tubes.
and with the carrier in place.
arms in place with the wheel bolted on to show position and arm geometry. (note these oem arms are just for mocking up, top arms will be custom fabricated and the lowers will be D2 camber adjustable.

Tubbed rear wheel arches to get that arse lower to the ground and some proper rubber under there.

Some good work going on there Misky, keep the pics coming
Very interested in how it goes with Surface Processing, I got a quote for getting a new shell sorted with them but want to see some results first.
Its lot to spend when half the car may dissappear due to tinworm

been a change of plan now. im using a company in tamworth called envirostrip. they offer the etch primer dip at a sensible price too unlike surface processing who want 1400 plus vat just for the primer. that way the sills and hard to get to areas get coated and protected. check out they're website

I was going to use Surface Processing but everytime I spoke to them the price went up!
A guy I deal with ''up north'' builds rally E21 and installs e36 rear ends. Lots of fab work but when you've got the skills I guess it makes sense to use them.

Thanks I've fired them a message to quote me. Mine's a bit different as I want to get rid of all the rot, then repair the shell fit a proper cage with new suspension mountings before having it redipped and coated.

glad I could help ben. ideally you want it dipped in primer otherwise it'll be a waste of time as the rust will be back in no time.
