All sorted

. I replaced the rubber bush that sits in the end of the ball joint cup ana the plastic washers, o rings and spring clips on the linkage and now it's spot on and for a massive £2.07 money well spent I think. Now wait for Monday after the weekends track day for me asking for advice on how to fix what I break.
Thanks all

My linkage is too loose for my liking ,
Get about an inch movement left/rught whikst in gear.
Looking underneath i have play in both pins and on end of gearbox shaft.
Is there a fix and what spring is everyone on about as i have none ....

Took it all apart and replaced withparts left over from the m10,
Alot tighter now but no spring...
Only a small amount of play but thats from the actual shaft coming from box so not alot i can do with that,
But annoying is the gear knob rotates, i though it was just loose but after spending ages trying to screw it on i noticed the whole shaft turns???
What gives-

No spring there, just 'spring' clips. If you want to get rid of the rotating gear knob, fit an E30 gear stick and knob, the latest production E21's (Sep 82 onwards) have them as well.
