Yes there is a differance verdween early 78 and late 78. From oktober lots of parts have changed to type 2, like subframe and stuff. Also the seatbrackets are converted to type 2, inclusief seatbeltconnectors.
But outside is in both cases type 1, aswell as the dashboard. And it's only importand when you order parts. They both drive the same.

You mean it miss one belt in the midddle, right? If it was sold new in Switzerland it is normal that it only has two belts in the rear, but no problem to get one extra installed. Went to see one in Basel last week and the owner had his car with him for a couple of years in Germany. Course of the German TÜV, he had an extra installed at BMW classic.
BTW.: Good luck with your car - looks great!

The point is that BMW made changes to the E21
every year. There are a zillion details to be worked out but in the end, and that was the purpose of my response, there is nothing so structurally different that you should prefer the one or the other. Apart from the pre/post facelift. Just my view.

Soooooo congrats on buying the Polaris '78 Günther! Hope you'll be able to start a little topic on the car in the registry soon!
Are you coming to the OGP in 2 weeks? I always check out the 3-er Club stand there!

BMW Motorsport front spoiler and 13" BBS Mahle wheels. The front spoiler might be pretty tought to locate but there are recreations around. The wheels can be found but if you want to improve handling, or better, keep your current handling, you might want 15" BBS perhaps?

I thougt I make my car looking like the one on the prospekt. But I think without the spoilers I like it more. So I try to get the pre facelift front spoiler and other wheels in the future. Is the handlig with 15" better as with 13" ? Perhaps I get some BBS 15" in the future.
I see some BBS with the BBS logo on it, and some BBS from BMW with the BMW Logo on it, whats the diffrence ? Wich BBS was there in 1978 ? It would be nice to have one wich alreday exists in 1978.
