But I'll see if I can get hold of a digital camcorder and make a "best of the beemeer" video or something, but that will be two or three months away, it's currently having it's winter sleep
My Alpina B6 replica (new trackday pics on page 5)

Mat (of e30 fame)
Thats a VERY handsome car you have there Anders (the B6 rep that is)!. And Jeroen, they are very nice pics you took too, but if you are going to whinge about Anders creeping around your back yard, then what makes you think you have the right to creep around mine!!!
...You think I fell for that 'parked elsewhere' nonsense? tch, tch, tch, tch.
May I ask, Anders, does the e21 feel any front-heavier with the large M30 in there? Or is the difference negligable?.....I think I'll have to revise my choice as to which of your cars I'd like to try out after seeing those pics
!!
And thanks for those other Alpina pics too guys, they are beautiful (though I think I'll have to hire that security guard after all).
Cheers
Mathew

My experience with B6's: usually they feel old. But after a suspension job with all new bearings, control arms, bushings, at least 15" wheels with sporty tires like Michelins' good old Pilot SX-GT they feel very fresh again and on the road there's not much difference (weight wise) between the feel of a 323i with a good suspension or a fresh B6. The Alpina front & rear sway bars help a lot there! Only on the track you feel there's more weight wanting to go straight ahead giving the brakes a hard time as well.
Curious as to what Anders experiences now...

Well, in general I'd have to agree with you Jeroen.
The previous owner of my B6 rep. did the engine swap - but not really much more. So when I bought the car it had that glorious M30 engine but the suspension was crap - springs were cut, shocks were leaking and bushings were cracking up!! In this state you could really feel all that extra weight up front. It was almost impossible to control - had several very scary experiences where the car reacted in ways I have never before experienced a car react...
But after rectifying all this with the harder BMW Motorsport rubber bushings which all older Alpina's used and Alpina B6 springs and shocks (all brand new of course) the car was literally transformed. The extra weight up front is not felt at all (due very much to the heavy-duty Alpina B6 front springs) and it's now an extremely enjoyable and actually very "chuckable" E21!!
Even on track I don't find the extra weight up front a big problem. If I'm charging 103% it will initially understeer slightly going into the tighter corners, but it's very adjustable, just a little extra throttle and the rear end steps out just a bit. With the rear end out about 5 - 10 degrees it's actually quite easy to four-wheel drift it - even without loosing speed!! Fab fun!!!
In the longer, softer corners I just keep my foot plantet and power through...
I kid you not, it is absolutely hilarious keeping up with E36 M3's in an E21!! The 321bhp M3 Evo will usually pull away bit by bit, but the 286bhp M3 can't leave me - and those poor M3 owners don't like it one bit when a 23 year old E21 is stuck to their rearbumper for one lap after the other...
And I should add, I don't even have the Alpina sway-bar yet. That's the one Alpina part I'm missing for my Alpina B6 rep. - so if anyone stumbles over one, please do let me know...

Oh yeah, forgot to ask you Jeroen,
- Do you know the story behind the Marc Surer Edition Alpina C1 Heidegger? It's a car I have been absolutely in love with since I saw a couple of photos of one about 5 - 6 years ago... It's not really terribly discreet, but damn, it's gorgeous!! I must own one...
Is it mechanically identicle to an regular Alpina C1 2,3? How many did they produce and how many still exist? How much are they worth today and more importantly, where do I find one?

They're rare... both the front bar and the adjustable rear bar. I do have the one for the rear, found it after a long time... my usual response... every now and then one pops up on eBay!E21Dane wrote:And I should add, I don't even have the Alpina sway-bar yet. Still working on that one for my tuners or special editions page. There were 2 versions... the 323i Heidegger with abt 160 HP dus to a different camshaft, and the Marc Surer Limited edition which was based on the C1 (Heidegger had a Swiss Alpina dealership back then). But it is hard to find more details!Guest being E21Dane in disguise wrote:Do you know the story behind the Marc Surer Edition Alpina C1 Heidegger?

Yeah, I found the adjustable rear sway bar for the E21 on ebay recently. I ended up having the second highest bid - some bastard walked away with it for 1 euro more than my bid... Don't you just hate it when that happens...
Oh well, I'll probably find those sway bars eventually. Don't suppose you'd sell your Jeroen...?
If you find out more about the "Surer Edition" please let me know. I have been searching for more info since I saw the pics some 5 years ago - haven't come up with anything useful though... I know about Heidegger being the Swiss importer of Alpina (sort of like Synther in the UK) - but I would love to know more about the C1 Marc Surer - it's soooo bloody sexy in that 'total-lack-of-taste-80's-sort-of-a-way'...

Oh and Jeroen,
It is quite difficult to see, but I assume it's from a BMW in which case it's gotta be the fab BMW M1...I feel another competition coming up.... what the heck is this?

Yep, only made for Switzerland, I believe abt 20 323i's and 10 C1's were made. One of the guys at bmw-e21.be seems to know Marc Surer... he's already asking!ac/dennis wrote:Curious to know more about those heidegger e21's. Didn't know that they were made.
Only made for sale in Switzerland?
