With Stand Alone ECU I've got full overview and control of all the possibilites the ECU can handle.--ALPINA-- wrote:Any reason why you chose a standalone system over MAF and motronic 1.3 emulator?

- Mixture/Lambda Control with Wideband (maximum and efficient A/F 13.2-12.8 @ full load / <15,5 @ part load) The ECU can handle wideband 1.3 doesn't)
- Knock Control (more efficient & max power)
- Boost control (for my turbo project)
- pressure vs rpm maps, no restrictions on MAF or AFM.
- Auto calibration on A/F & Ignition timing.
- Easy adjustments after heavy modifications
Some other extra features (not always used):
- Launch Control
- Sensorless traction control
- Datalog
What I miss is a good idle controller alogorithm and (very) cold start up issues.
After the motronic 1.3 was swapped for the Stand alone ECU a major gain in horsepower and torque was present still with the AFM in the intake. After removal of it it was even more noticable.--ALPINA-- wrote: did you notice the difference with standalone?
Emulator is nice if you know were everything is but if you don't, it will cost you a lot search time. The 1.3 motronic can't handle the wideband continously so lean mixture operations are a bit risky to me.
I'm still curious on emulator, if you have good screenshots or good explanation its very welcome! (PM?)

why are you guys talking Chinese?
Damn still some big 'catching up' to do on custom injection/ignition...
The original/normal Tii had 130 horses, how much do you think or know yours has?

The emulator is good for someone who constantly changes engine performance parts e.t.c. who are semi novice in altering the engine managements values which you could always tweak the performance and advance the timing but the standalone as you says does so much more which im looking to build myself and go that one step further with more control on the ignition side.. you know its a shame cos the motronic (1.3) has restricted the M20 so much which has robbed alot of power that we are missing!! and to have a standalone which opens up a box BHP!! also the ICV doesnt work well with standalone as it has been tried with sensors and worked at times but then messes up the sensor control e.t.c. I have a miller maf whichwas given to me and i also have a Dbilas Throrrle body set on my 2.7 and so far i still have so much HP to squeeze out of that engine so am yet to start on it with standalone and ditch the AFM and MAF alltogether.....Tomba wrote:With Stand Alone ECU I've got full overview and control of all the possibilites the ECU can handle.--ALPINA-- wrote:Any reason why you chose a standalone system over MAF and motronic 1.3 emulator?

My dad drove my car while I had a calculated fuel map and just a rough ignition map and he told me it should be at least as fast as a stock 2002tii. With the longer intake from the e30 318i M10 it should have more torque and less horsepower. Real figures I don't know because I haven't tested it on a Dyno.Cerberus wrote:why are you guys talking Chinese?

I normally drive on LPG with a mixture "piece" before the throttle body. I have to use an restricted air filter to get a vacuum. Otherwise it won't suck the gas inside. Few days back I had a backfire and the (restriced air filter said kaboemie) and had to switch to petrol..... just a massive gain! Way more fun to drive.... to expensive these days...
Electronic LPi is one of the next things for the 2002...
They gave up 130hp, and with factory hp it can be bit lower or a lot lower. I havent got any experience with the B20.DrGonzoPOW wrote:I thought it was Mandarin ?? I can make out a few words
By the way fella's. In the way of motronic 1.3 How much power could a standard M20B20 take without breaking anything ? Their around 120 out the factory right ?
My M20B25 with AFM, (+250.000km!) restricted 320/6 exhaust, stock cam, old cilinder head deliverd 175hp /239Nm with the stand alone management. Pretty good for an engine with that milage! Now with flowed and ported head, other camshaft, spagetti exhaust, no AFM, blablabla I expect 200 or more.
Alpina / j, got any links or info were you got the emulator from?
Cheers, Tom

Whats it like with LPG? do you notice the fuel consumption is less? and also the power on LPG over petrol, do you feel any loss in power?
Software used is :
TunerPro
http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/
http://www.tunewithcrome.com/
& Moats usb chip burner...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOATES-B ... 0291099915
The software is free from tunerpro, but the kit isnt mine as i am just messing with it!! seems ok but contemplating on MS otherwise Miller has there W.A.R Chip coming soon which i will be introducing to the UK to E30 guys and anyone who runs a motronic on any other cars.. it will be a range of software for all early cars untill developemnt kicks in for later cars as i have an agreement with Miller and their products so i may be a uk supplier with another mate who has recently moved from germany to start an online performance parts distributor cheap with competative prices which i will be involved.
Sorry DrGonzo
whats were chatting about is standalone, ditching the standard 325 ECU with a standalone fueling system so that you could plug a laptop into the MS (mega squirt) ecu and alter the software, advance the timing, add more fuel e.t.c. which then you wont need the AFM or MAF which allows more airflow and will give you total control of the car`s fuel management which is the way to go if you want more power...
