Nothing if your elderly, disabled or female.

Just hopw Claire dosen't read this!
Manual cars seem to be worth a bit more than autos too. If you use standard e21 stuff it'll still look as good when its done.

yes i have a good idea. traction control, esp, sequential gearboxs, other ecu controlled hooohaaaa.
id rather drive a car. not a computer. give me a clutch pedal and a "H" change anyday. over some autospastic flappy paddle nonsence.
ask any true racing driver which theyd rather drive.......
they only need to have sequential semi auto change because its faster. ergo they wouldnt win a race without it as everyone else has it.

they use auto because the gears in a manual eat up horse power through friction and no human being can shift as fast or as consitantly as an auto. they all are using it because millions of dollars and pounds have been sunk into resurching how to go fast!

No human can change as quick as an auto? :? You should have tried my 02  There was about an hour between each gearchange.

I really cant think of any race car (other than drag cars) that have a torque convertor auto? I really dont think ive ever seen one? If youre refering to sequential boxes, getrag, hollinger seq boxes still have a clutch, they are able to flat shift due to an electronic fuel cut on gearchange.

And any road car auto will sap more power than a manual, put your e21 auto on the rollers and you will find the manual will make a significantly higher rwhp figure.

torque convertor autos have their place in drag racing, and im happy you like yours, i just dont get your reasoning! Nice car btw

Im just saying that people dismiss autos when they dont understand them. To make a standard auto shift better you change the tention of the shift springs and you can control it very precisely. I personaly like manuals because I like the control and yes I also am a purist that says front engine rear wheel yada yada but that doesnt mean that manuals are better. This is an old argument from the days of the first autos and things have changed quite alot! I have half a mind to build my engine and leave the auto in it just to prove the point. I am speeking from training and experience by the way, I have been an ase certified mech for 15 years and my family has been building race cars since i was born and that is over 30 years. In fact you just might be seeing us in nascar next year.
