No, it dries but has a rubberised texture I believe. Obviously prep is everything.

The stuff from Wurth and 3M is great, and can be resprayed as well if you like.

So if you touched it you wont get horrible tar like crap over your hands?

I hate that sticky underseal stuff that never dries... Makes working on cars a right chore..

No, that's just cheap underseal and not the same stuff at all.

Have had to bite the bullet and buy new Gaz coilovers for the front, as the old ones had corroded so badly internally.

No, Gaz said it was too far gone unfortunately. It's a shame though, because they'd originally been made by Tansautosport and were based on the Grp5 leg type with removable upside down Bilstein insert. It turns out the rears are Escort RS Cosworth competition units, which explains why they're such heavy duty I guess? I've kept all the springs for the track car though, as they're ex county race car.

I guess there's plenty to do while waiting for Gaz but I was looking forward to finally seeing my car back on its wheels again.

Thats handy to know the escort ones are roughly the right length. What top mounts where fitted? any pics?

I think they're old TAS ones but they are now Compbrake and although they list e21, they don't actually fit.

They do fit but you have to redrill the top mounts that was how they where made, I bought all the TAS e21 stock when they went bust including the coil over strut tubes. They are not group 5 based they are an escort rally copy which run inverted bilstens. Good tech in the day as the larger diameter tube was stonger but new gaz is better ans the strut body is larger diameter.

Ah right, there we go then. I guess it's been a few years and the info wasn't quite as fresh as it could have been. At least we were able to salvage the bits needed to have Gaz make the replacements.

Went and saw my pals new premises here in Cornwall yesterday. Had a nose around his 316/s50 rally car while I was at it. The e30 M3 has nearly 500bhp from the M5 V8 it's running.
