18 is one of the pipes to the throttle body. the one jim was missing was 19 from the throttle body to the back corner of the block

that pictures really bad at showing the layout of the hoses. its no.13 on there..... i cant remember if we blanked it off or not.
the pipe that runs under the inlet manifold from the back of the thermostat housing to the heater matrix take off. its an e30 hose, it has a branch off it to go to the lower point on the e30 expansion tank (that originally mounts on the n/s inner wing). it needs this branch cutting back and a blocker putting in it.

I have the e30 hose with the T piece on the bench, am using an E21 hose from the header to the water pump. I think the throttle body hoses are connected and I have the heater valve connected to a hose coming out of the back of the head. Am now worried about what the heater return hose is connected to!

I suspect I either have a split hose or it's just that I've shoved them on without checking they were fitted correctly.

Minor obstacles only here - biggies have all been dealt with!

I actually took my camera to the workshop today as I was convinced I'd have it all done in an hour and be trying to start up!

Hopefully.

Fancy coming over on Sunday to sort out my mistakes? I'll provide refreshments and amusement (see comment about mistakes!)

Just discovered that herself has been buying handbags using my credit card, she's been selling them on ebay at a profit but the money is in her bank account rather than a zero balance on my card. Discovered when I tried to renew my Man city season ticket and card was declined.

So she's gone upstairs to sort out a transfer to the card to clear the balance, just after being told I was out on Sunday.

Yep but it guarantees me some workshop time at the weekend.

Minor issue with my Daughter's ballet show between 10 and 11 - I'll be looking after young Harry during that but otherwise will be on the ramp fettling, sticking petrol in and seeing if it works.

Well Mr Murran came to help, clutch now connected and appears to be working, few bolts tightened up underneath, water leak fixed - it was the other hose on the pump that hadn't been tightened. AFM fitted and connected up, petrol poured into tank, battery connected and it won't work. Murran found the start inhibiter relay from the autobox setup and we bypassed that, but it still won't fire up. Crank sensor appears to send a signal (borrowed oscilloscope from Jason at the unit), but fuel pump relay doesn't switch on, no spark. Battery ran down while we were testing so I've left it on charge. Only thing I can think of is a duff ECU so I've just grabbed one off ebay.

Just been emailing Boyd who I got the motronic stuff from, hopefully he has some spares he can send down to me for troubleshooting purposes. 320 ECU and spare relays could come in handy, I'll let you know if I need them.

Also seem to need a gearknob again, I remember my Daughter playing with the one I had, but it has now vanished.

If you're not too fussed about originality I have an E30 gearknob you can have

Did a bit more fiddling today.
Out of the car main relay clicks when I connect 12v across it. Pin 86 shows +12v to ground plus when connect meter across to 85. This should fire the relay, sending power from 30 down to the ECU, but the relay won't click. I started trying to jump the other terminals, but had become confused by the 12v across the relay, thinking that the relay must actually be firing but I just couldn't tell. Sitting at home with cup of tea and ETM on big monitor I am increasingly convinced I have a dead ECU, or crank sensor. Should have spares of both in post, sadly I am at work tomorrow including night, might get to nip down on Wednesday evening, but working Thurs and weekend - it could be Monday before I get back for a proper look.Found some good troubleshooting guides online which I have cut/pasted and know which terminals on the motronic loom to check, but now I can't get down there I will just get more and more frustrated!
