Re: Pandemoniums 316 restore
Progress from yesterday.
boot floor and back panel all welded up.

started gathering bits for my shell rotisserie going to make it a lift type one like this
http://www.racecarlifts.co.uk/
2 1" ID taper bearings

my high tensile 1" threaded bar around 800mm long, I have 6, will use 1 for each end.

Re: Pandemoniums 316 restore
Not got much done this week, had a bit of family time with the nice weather, and started building a twin axle trailer to tidy the place up and make the shell mobile to move to the shot blasters when completed. Hopefully get 90% of trailer done on sunday, will post pictures up then.e21-Mark wrote:Any more progress?
Heading to Exmouth on the 24th for a short break, so a service on the X3 will be required and looks like the harmonic dampener needs chaged as well, the aircon belt jumped off the other day.
will get stuck back in next week with lots more updates.

Re: Pandemoniums 316 restore
as usual things dont go to plan, not all the box section was delivered till today, and now to late to start, so a pick of the trailer so far.

I have 2 sets of wheels as well 4x13" and 4x14" e30 steels. but would like some 10" trailers for it to lower it a bit.
Chopped one axle to widen 40mm, welded in spacers for the other, cut out and re-positioned the fwd axle. swapped the hitch for a 1300kg one, installed a breakaway cable and completed the brake cable/rod and compensators.
trailer bed frame to make and weld on top of the cut and shut. will be 64" wide and 12'2" long when finished with removable 12" sides. cost so far £120, should be finished for £200 with what i have lying around inc lights and paint.
then time to weight in all the scrap from the E21.

Re: Pandemoniums 316 restore
what if you attach a towbar hitch directly to the front of the car chassis legs and stick the rear beam back on and then simply tow the car as a trailer?

Re: Pandemoniums 316 restore
Thats a good idea, but I need a trailer for other things anyway, plus I will just send it to the blasters on a dolly frame that can be put on its side to blast the underside.

I saw what this chap has done to his strut tops of his M powered Datsun 240 and immediately thought of your car.

I love 240Z's some good pics there thanks, the chassis tilter was exactly the think i was thinking of, but with casters and bolted to the subframe points.
thanks Mark.

Mate. Did you replace those square pad jacking point things on your front wheel well where it meets the floor pan / sill?
