Yes thats right.. you need a later shape 316 front subframe. You can use a hoist to hold the engine while u change it.

It's getting daft changing all that!

I'll upgrade it in the future. I just want to get it built now!

I had the same problem with late/early crossmember, tca's and rollbar. It was a nightmare and endend up costing a few quid in the end to. More research required for me next time i think.
The cars looking fantastic by the way! :thumbsup

You know who your real mates are when they're prepared to stay and help hang some 36 year old doors while I shout and bark orders.

Also, is anyone in Manchester handy with panel fitting?

I did a test fit of the wings (Wallothnesch ones) and they seem a little ropey, fitting wise.

Is this likely to be because they're pattern parts, or am I just doing something wrong.

They don't seem to be far enough back, if that makes sense?

Weird about the front wings, haven't heard about fitting problems with the WN ones but no experience myself. Hope you can have that sorted without major rework! Rest of the car looks wonderful!

Got the wings fitted a lot better.

The bonnet still doesn't sit quite right though, uneven gap between the wing along the length. The bonnet hasn't moved though, so not sure why this is?

I'll investigate further this week, coming along nicely though :)

Must be the front wings then?

They don't seem to have any adjustment up or down though, so how would I be able to move them down/rotate them?

I know that the front wings of the W&N firm need some adjustment at the A-pillar. I believe that one is correct and the ohterside needs some adjustment.

But if i see the pictures then the fitting at the doorside is not that bad but they lower towards the front then? That is not so difficult to adjust but it's a shame you have painted them yet.

Is the hood not adjustabale anymore? How is the fitting of the wings with the original spoiler at the front?

So, it's starting to look more and more like a car!

Yesterday was glass day, got all but the passenger door and the windscreen in.

First up, clean the glass with some white spirit, eraser and Tardis:

The cleaned the seal up a little bit, and offered it up:

Seal fitted:

Making sure I'm extra careful, wouldn't want to lose the original glass:

Some YouTube videos gave me a good idea of how to use the "string method" to pop the windows into the car.

First one fitted:

Rear screen:

Got the drivers door mechanism in, so it opens and closes correctly, only issue is the door won't lock when closed to the car. It'll lock if the door is open and you mechanically close the latch, so we think it's an alignment issue.

Also grabbed some photos of the painted drums:

Front discs:

And front coilovers:

Still a mountain to climb, but it's getting there :)

Got a few things done today.

Door handles were a bit crappy, so sanded them up and gave them a quick lick of paint.

They could probably do with being powdercoated, but they'll do for now.

Dried and fitted:

Windscreen in:

Chrome trim fitted:

Also, these rubber strips:

I forget where they went

Would I be right in saying they go on top of the door, and are glued on???

Those rubbers are indeed at the top of the door.

You placed the rearside windows without the chrome insert i see.

I always thought that it was easier to fit them with the chrome on it because the chrome will be placed more difficult with the windows in place.
