Well, very busy couple of weeks with Stag do rugby tour and lots of car progress.

No pics I'm afraid.

Rebuilt propshaft a bit longer as engine is 15mm further forward.
Fuel pump changed
Solid engine Alloy mounts
fan belt sorted
Water pipes modified (still have a heater for those wet races and demisting)
Oil & Filter changed
Oil cooler pipes fitted
Engine turned over to pressure test etc (all good)
Make Relay & Fuse board for ECU loom
tidy all the loom in the engine bay.

Transported the car to Hayward and Scott for the exhaust system to be made Yesterday.
Managed to fit both the E46 S54 manifolds cut off just after the collector.
Will be a twin system with crosspipe and 2.25" near the manifold reducing to 2" over the rear beam.

Hopefully picking it up on Friday and taking the car for Mapping and the first startup.

Bit closer now.

Exhaust has been made, using std S54 manifold cut just after the collectors. 2.25" pipes from the manifold to the centre box with a cross pipe just in front of the box with a Lambda boss.
2" pipes between the tanks and over the beam (largest that would fit).
Repackable rear silencer with twin 2" tailpipes.

I picked the car up then transported it to Emerald where it is staying for 1 to 2 weeks for the final mapping etc. Can't wait to hear it :boogie

Great work, it will be a monster! Very interesting what you've done with the driveshafts... If I stick with E21s in the long term I'd prefer to keep the E21 rear trailing arms, hence the interest.

Brrrr then I don't need anyway :P

BTW isn't that a plastic cap on the steering rack the manifold is pretty close to? Any risk?

For the rest: wonderful and not exactly undersized

Rob, The driveshafts were not a cheap option. GKN CV joints are reasonable but the shafts they are on are expensive F1 grade steel.

Jeroen, Yes quite close but not as close as the steering knuckle, once I get the car back from the RR I'll be checking everything underneath for heat management. Probably fit a small alloy shield between the two. I've got to get the tanks out as well to find a leak when full of fuel. Nearly took out the passenger Tank to give more room for the exhaust but decided I'd rather have the capacity for longer races and for road use.

I've been promised an update when the car is run for the first time - maybe a video

Nice work there!
Im impressed the headers just fit, the s50 ones werent even close from memory.
Are your headers standard s54 RHD or LHD? It only just clicked to me that your car is RHD too, i though you were in the US!

Yes totally std E46 M3 manifolds from a 2003 RHD Convertible. They were cut at the 3to1 collector. New pipes welded on from there.
The new pipes do run very close to the steering links and floorplan, however I'm running solid aluminium engine mounts so theres no movement.

They won't fit to an S50 though. wrong flanges.

Sounds much closer than my e36 headers, only #4 and #5 were close, everything else had to be reworked. Managed to re route them around the stock steering shaft and rubber coupling though which should be handy (road car).

Good luck with getting the car mapped, be sure to post up some numbers!

Excellent!

I might try and make the Ace myself but am doing a sprint down near Dorchester on Sunday, so might be back late.

Any numbers from the dyno??
