Well thanks to Nas and Gunther I have almost got my stupidly expensive bit of aluminium with 4 holes in it. Mind you, I don't have a garage, a vice or a tank cutter so making my own wasn't really a viable alternative. As a result I paid through the nose, as with any good impulse buy, for convenience and speed. I'm sure it'll look trick though and it's all about the details. I still haven't chosen a carpet though.

yeah when it arrived - I did think this is a bit of a basic part to be paying £80 quid for! For the function it provides its good value considering you would pay that for a nice gear knob.

I wouldn't have it in my car though - I like the cold air that flows through the vents too much. If only they made that alpinarse gauge cluster that goes on the top of the dash in RHD!

I don't think I ever used those vents so it's no loss to me. I've seen a couple of the bakedbeana type that folk have made in RHD, but they looked a bit Blue Peter.

I've seen those Tim, but I wanted something that looked more OE than that. I did consider mounting them in the centre console, but wanted them a bit nearer my line of sight. One of the things I like about an e21 is it's basic, functional interior. I don't want to lose that quality, hence the thinking behind 3 simple black gauges. I also know this seems like a lot of fuss about a few added gauges but I just want it to be right.

There is also the question of going metric or not
I am used to 40-60 PSI and Water temp in F 230 degrees and therefore wouldn't understand Bar or degrees c!

I remember a well known racer (from Malta) beside his steaming GT40 in Capetown (at 40 degrees c airtemp) - I asked what was the matter- he said overheating 120 degrees. 120 degrees - that's OK I said.

"No 120 degrees C"- he said - "I replaced all the original GT40 Imperial gauges with metric ones- since I don't understand imperial"!

Herman is Metric- I just look at when the needles are vertical

The metal finishers have finished coating the kidney grill so it should be back soon. Once it's here I'm going to decide what colour to do the wheels. I'm thinking either as they are, dark satin gold or black chrome?

Obviously it'll have a big effect on the overall look of the car, so wheel colour needs to be right. Anyway, I'm going over to Pristine on Friday, as it's been a few months since I last saw my car.

Well today I took a drive over to Pristine Bodyworks to check how MIB was progressing. I know I'm biased, but as I pulled in and saw MIB sat there, it looked the absolute nuts! It has a really aggressive stance and looks really squat. I know my wheel choice isn't for everyone, but I'm really happy with the way they look.





The remote servo has been mounted beneath the inlet manifold and should easily be hidden from view. The whole braking system is far better than it was with the OE servo and linkage. I'm really chuffed with the way it's gone together and now much tidier the engine bay is now.



It's taken a while but nearly all of the e36 loom we didn't need, has been removed. The ECU and fuse box are going to be mounted where the glove box usually sits. The lid will remain as a cover for them though.





The paint booth and oven will be up and running in about 2 weeks from now, so hopefully we will see MIB being painted soon.

I dropped in on E21 Revival on the way over. I'm looking forward to seeing it at Brands next spring.

Looking good and I wouldn't have any issues with these wheels, nice to see that for a change. But beware of the stretched tyres. Never been a fan of them and an acquaintance recently crashed big time with a tyre running off. Not enough of an expert to judge how big that risk is and if there are other probable causes but I'd be careful.

Sent the centre grill for MIB away to be black chromed.





I'm really pleased with the colour and finish. It looks better in the metal but should be a nice contrast with the blue. There's enough of a shine that you'll still see the kidney grill.
