Rota Shakotans, right?
They're copies of Hayashi Streets.
I love them.

I like the black chrome, too! Nice touch. Cannot wait to see this all together..

You're probably right about the rims. They were Rota impulse-buy-imotos last Winter. Time flies when you're having fun but didn't realise that it was quite so long ago. I'm still tempted to have the wheels done in black chrome too? I'd leave the lips polished though, to tie in with the chrome and stainless window trims.

I'm looking forward to the final push to get the car finished too. I just wish Christmas and New Year didn't get in the way!

Have been running a 2000 touring as my daily recently and enjoying the added practicality of having a hatchback, with 60/40 split folding rear seat. The rack means it's even more capable when it comes to lugging stuff around with me. I've got my old minilites coming from Jim, to bolt on next week. If anyone is on the hunt for a touring though, it may well be available sometime soon and I'm always open to selling.

The postman brought me a belated Christmas gift, in the shape of some new LEDA suspension for the M3. I've always been a fan of LEDA suspension but it's hard to find and can be expensive. I was lucky here though and LEDA said they'll do a full refurb' for £100 a corner. Even allowing for the price of the kit, I could never have bought them new for the same money. All I need now are some Porsche 996 or AP brake callipers and I'll be set for the Manx Classic and Crystal Palace sprint. :)

Hopefully it won't be long till Pristine Bodyworks have their spray booth finished after moving premises. I really want MIB finished and now we're into the 2nd year of the build. Once painted, it's just the smaller details that need completion. I dug out these Engelmann mirrors, that were actually taken from a 70's Porsche 911, but they need some prep work and to be painted satin black, prior to fitting. They're just so much better quality than the eBay copies I had before. They also break down into their component parts, so can be repaired should the glass break etc. Finally getting the car painted will be a major step towards completion and finally having MIB ready for a few shows this Spring/Summer. There are some great UK e21 on the road now and when you think of what there was out there just 4 or 5 years ago, that has to be good news for UK owners. :thumbsup

Well I went to Pristine Bodyworks smart new premises today and saw MIB. The move has delayed work on MIB but it should be getting painted in the next couple of weeks. Mechanically everything is just about finished, so once painted, it just leaves wiring and interior. We're definitely on the home straight at last. :)

Smart new offices have nearly been completed inside the workshop space.

Hopefully the next update will come as the prep work starts for paint.

Me neither.

Just renewed my insurance and when they asked how many miles I'd covered (in the past year) and I said one, she thought I meant one thousand! Erm, no. One singular and even that is rounding up from the few yards it's been pushed! I've owned it nearly 18 months and never even driven it! My premium went up a little, but have agreed value cover of £15k, plus living in London means higher premiums.

Thanks to Rob I have the last mechanical part I needed. :)

The quick-rack needs cleaning up and painting, prior to being fitted, then I'll drop it over to Mick @ Pristine tomorrow. The car itself is due for paint in the next 2 weeks, as it's going to be photographed during the paint process.

Went over to Pristine today and dropped the quick-rack and amp off.

Spotted a Vauxhall HA and Cosworth in for restoration.

Another CSL in for new panels.

Image

The e36 loom has been stripped right back and is being spliced into the e21 loom, with the new fuse box and kwik-wire kit.

You can see the difference in engine position, now that there are custom mounts. Might have to look into a sump guard dependent on final ride height?

Image

Image

Image

Spotted Aydin's 323i looking stunning, with all new chassis rails and newly painted engine bay.

Image

Rad is off to aqua-jet and once spotless, the top outlet is being moved so that regular e36 silicon hoses will fit without any joins.

Mick is aiming to paint MIB within a couple or three weeks, so that we can finally start building to the finished result. Obviously it'll need to go to the trimmer for new carpets and the original seat mounts are coming out, so the Recaros can be fitted nice and low. It's been a long slog but we're in the home stretch now. :)
