normaly fitted as a bodge and left in place my maserati was full of them and the only to sort was to strip them all off and sort it out properly

Yes, those are crap. I've probably had them on almost every BMW I've had. They've all been euro models imported to the US, and when installing the old US sealed beam headlamps, they invariably rewired the parking lights using those things to tap in.
