Am heading to pub shortly so no idea how I'll feel at 10AM. I'll let you know.
He sounds a dangerous chap to visit, go to look at a 2500 and come back with an 02 as well. I'd better stay away!

At 10AM I was on the way to mothercare to buy new shoes for my Daughter who magically managed to come home from a party yesterday with someone else's shoes on (same shoe but smaller and narrower fitting), so I didn't even get to think about going to look at E3's. Nor for that matter did I get to go and look at my car as I had Sunday lunch with family visiting from Northumberland and then squeezed in another Kids party.
Did you go and look at the Cheadle E3?

No worries Jim. I phoned the guy and he was in town. I went to play football with the mosque lads and by the time I got out it was dark. I'd rather wait for another decent one like the blue one to come along. In talks with someone who has a RHD Li and a 2500 that belonged to Emlyn Hughes. I'll post what I find anyway.

Hi Gaz,
Somebody actually offered me two for a couple of grand and one was an Li. Not sure what condition they were in apart from they both needed a resto. Was awaiting photos until the sellers father has just passed away sadly.
Anyway, really do appreciate you doing that mate. I will give Nigel a ring in the week and see what he comes back with. Hopefully a move of house soon should mean a nice cosey garage to store it in too. For now a search for a nice E3 (LHD if possible!) continues...

I know the 2 cars you mentioned. They're both pretty far gone from what I could see. They'd certainly cost a fair bit to restore.

I'd even consider them as a longer term restoration Mark if I had a place to store them, which I don't currently. I guess it was because one was an Li. Still mourning the sale of the Blue one Jim pointed out on ebay

Sorry Rob,
didn't notice this post before now. Yes I did see this car on ebay too. Just the fact that it was a little far and looked a tad tatty made me less interested. How far is it from you? If it's on your way somewhere, would you mind giving it a quick look and telling me what you think? Ta!

I wouldn't mind at all, and Ipswich isn't far away. The only issue is that I'm off to the States for two weeks on Sunday and I have clothes shopping to do tomorrow! The auction has ended anyway, if some how the car is still around at the end of March then let me know.

That's fine Rob. I always think there's two ways to get a good price. Snap it up straight away if it's cheap enough. Or let it brew if it didn't have any takers initially. No rush mate, we'll see if it's still around after your hols.

Looks clean and original, but you've seen some experiences here, I'd never buy a car without having seen it in the flesh eh metal. I'd rather spend a week driving around Germany and surroundings checking a couple of definite maybe's out. There's always a risk you're paying 3K for a wreck...

That's fair comment. I guess that is the risk, unless I pick one up for a couple of thousand euro. I might just do what you've suggested and make a holiday out of it too. Wish there were more left hand drive E3's this side of the channel

Well is there a better way to spend a holiday? Some cruising, checking out cars, meeting some fellow BMW maniacs perhaps, combine it with an event on one of the tracks... I had a great time spending 5 days in Germany and Switzerland 3 years ago and I took a nice Baur souvenir with me lol
