Spent a couple of hours on the car today. Painted the inside of the boot white and re-mounted the fuel pump. I need to run a new live for the fuel pump to a dash mounted switch too.

Image

Removed the seats so that I can move mine back a few inches and mount it on the floor. Once the floors are clean and re-painted, I'll use grip tape. I also want to get rid of the Halfrauds pedal set. I made myself some with checker plate and they look pretty good.

Image

The seats are both in really nice condition but I might sell them to buy a larger drivers seat?

Image

Both doors are done now and I just need to fit the pro car style mirrors. I'm also fitting single headlamps.

Image

Hopefully Mick @ Pristine will be making a County Car rear wing for me. I should be selling the Motorsport front spoiler to replace it with the County item too. I just have a few cosmetics and the brakes to do now. I'm thinking of trying EBC Redstuff till I'm able to upgrade the brakes properly.

Thanks to Danny I was able to swap the headlights for singles today and I think they look much better. I also taped the glass to resemble a BMW roundel.

Finally decided on the livery I want to use. It won't be an exact replica but should still look pretty cool.

I just hope I can do it justice? Like I said, it won't be an inch perfect copy but more looky-likey. Just got a text from Mick @ Pristine to let me know my new fibreglass bonnet will be ready late next week. I just need to work out how to pick it up!

I am. I used to have a wall in my student days that the Whaaam exploding aircraft painted on it.

Well I spent an hour with the grinder cutting out the old seat mounts. I'm bolting the new seat straight to the floor as I'm plenty tall enough to reach the steering wheel & pedals. In fact, the driving position is great and far more comfy than it was. I also fitted another set of bonnet pins in readiness for the new fibreglass bonnet coming next weekend. There are a few scratches and battle scars that need touching in before I make a start on the livery. I gave it a quick wash and cleaned the glass too. It looks better already. Just the new seat to go in, a new live & switch for the fuel pump and the livery to do! First event 2 weeks today. I must admit I'm a bit nervous but really looking forward to it.

Also picked up some Raceline alloys and am planning to get some slicks fitted.

Ordered this subtle rear wing today...

Once the front spoiler is on the County Car look will almost be done.

Mark

Where's the rear wing coming from and how many £?? I need a front splitter on the slug to stop it getting floaty at high speed, which will mean I then need a spoiler on the back so I don't lose the back end horribly instead.

Well, when I was researching TWR I found out that to keep costs down they made their own front spoiler by extending an Alpina one and making their own mould. BMW actually wanted them to use the Motorsport item but it cost far more. The rear is a modified 3.0 CSL wing. The problem there is that a genuine wing is about £3.5k and even a replica comes in at £850! :shock

I've been fortunate enough to secure a replica one that's imperfect (much cheaper!) but better than that, Mick @ Pristine is in the process of fabricating a mould of his own after he found someone with a genuine wing. The cost there will be around £200. It'll be 3 months till they're ready though, which is why I opted for the slightly pricier alternative.

Zaprace list the County Racer front spoiler @ £162 and it is 8" deep as opposed to the usual 4.25".

Spent an hour removing the old door mirrors and mounting these. They're cheaper copies of Engellman mirrors. I saved the genuine ones for MIB but they need painting first.

The ''to do'' list is gradually getting shorter!
