At the rear of the car the rust is not to bad. Some in the wheel arches, but really minor. I can see some paintwork has been done, since the clips for the mouldings are painted.

And back tot he front (bumper) A bracket misses. To get it back on, I’m in search of a rusted ore dented piece, so I can change it out, because the chrome on my bumper is very good. So I don’t want a new bumper.

In short, the car has some more rust then I bargained for. I a few years I have to do some welding, but for now all is protected. A minor fender bender at the front has given minimal damage, but I can still find consequences, like the crusty valance and lots of little rustspots.
All-in all the body is fairly ok, after 25 years and lots of salt on the roads it looks good. The subframes are very rusty, rotten brakelines and fuellines, but especially the diff is very crusty. In a few years I will get the complete undercarriage sorted. For now: get it back on the road.

On Januar 19th, 2012, I Got furter away from my goal… Damn, what a car. Yesterday I figured that I needed to replace some parts of ther brakeline. Today I found out that it’s complete rotten. So I’ll changed the line for copper ones and also the flexible parts for newones. And while I’m at it, I just aswell change the fuellines to.

To get to the fuellines I took of the diff. What a weight! And holy fcuk, what a rust.. Besides that I dis some work on the front wings and on getting my carpet clean.

Fuelpump and parts. Needs work to.

The wings had some corrosion at the mouldings. The right one has some old repairs, that are corroded. For now I took a counter measure, but I will have to replace this wing in the future.

Wheelarch rear, two spot where the metal is gone, not to bad, but it needs some work now. I think this side had some damage in the past, because I see some filler.

Image

Under the seat I found a dime. The car returns on investment, but it still is the wrong way around.

Image

I took out the console, behind the radio is some wirecrap due to some kind of alarm. Behind the radio is also a mess, 4 wire loose, a TV plug on the radio (wtf!??) and a couple of wire connectors for 230v.

Image

This is so dirty! Very contagious colour. I will have this cleaned with an extractor.

First batch fresh and new parts is in. The dealer gave me two sets of brakediscs rearside. I have no use for them, I'd rather had a pair of front discs for free :stupidme

Some brackets from the fuelpump and some fuellines taken off. All rust, so I’ll take them to be yellow zinccoated.

After that I took out all the alarmcrap. That wasn’t easy, it was wired up even behind the frontspeakers. All wires that are connected with squeeze connectors and open without insulation. I took it all out. Next week I will solder it all up and put shrink sleeves over it.
After taking the alarm and startblocker out, I started the car. It still runs!!!

The wires:

The bolts on the diff and the bracket of the fuelpump needed some new zincplating So i threw in some extra brackets and nuts and pieces and even some e21 parts.
