Great stuff! Now a few questions about the E28 rear axle... Are your fancy trailing arms the same length as standard ones? I'm surprised the hubs actually sit closer to the front of the wheel arch, I would of thought it would be the opposite. How do the hubs sit width ways in the arches compared to the standard E21 axle? The way it's been done is similar to what I've thought about doing to an E30 axle, how harsh are completely solid subframe bushes on the road?

the fancy trailing arms are the same as stock for geometry, as it is the rear diff just clears the box section at the rear of the spare wheel well and the stock drive shaft is a tad to long
We are going to move the solid mount to move the whole beam forward which should
make the wheels line up in the centre
keep the stock drive shaft
the e28 diff cove should line up with the mount point for the e12 diff
I needed a 15x7 et41 to get the wheel in the arch
To use the 16x8 et20 alloys would need arch extensions like the 02 turbo
I am lucky with the trick front set up i can widen the track with a stock set up i reckon you could weld a u section on the subframe to extend the TCA pickup point outwards and use adjustable to mounts to sort the camber.
As for harsh the e21 subframe was solid mounted so a striped car, coilovers, cage, rose jointed it was pretty hardcore nearly underivable on the road esp at speed as the track is smother.

liking the rear beam set up.
i'll have to see what i come up with when i pick up the e30 full rear set up next weekend. been to see the guy this weekend about it.
guna get both e21 and e30 beams on the floor under the car on the ramp and get the tape measure out.
guna be toe and camber adjustability some where in the mix.

S50 on the orginal 323i mounts, us spec 528e bellhousing, e30 m3 265 getrag close raio box.
Looks like a s52 sump might just fit with no mods

Mmm... yes, I like that! Just watch the engine mount as one of mine has managed to snap whilst the car was away getting an exhaust...
I don't suppose the 6 branch is going to be a direct fit?
Anymore luck in repositioning the E28 axle? Are you going to use the solid mount subframe mounts on the road (will I suffer if I use solid mounts on the road?!)?

I will have a look getting steel arms made up incase as with the s50 there is another 50kg's to hold
The e28 rear axle is in place and sorted, had a play around with the e30 rear tonight it'a looks bit more tricky to get right but the trade off cheap rear disk brake setup, diffs, arb's and poly bush axle mounts shoudl be worth it.

It looks like the rear axle fits very nicely, did you have to any work to get the wheels to sit inside the arches?
