Photos are cool, but now all i can think about is one of an e21 next to the pyramids haha.

Not been to Egypt before but nice to know these cars are all over the world and the owners are obsessed as we are here with fixing them up!

dear all,

actually i`m having problems with my current engine block ... crank bearings are getting weak ... and i have to think about a replacement very soon....i`m thinking in the following options and i need to share all of this with you .... please help with your idea`s

currently i have the 318 I M10 engine.

Option 1:

replacing the current block and get another stock internals block and turbocharge my engine.
- Mega version 2
- Turbo T3 (Used)
- injectors 295 CC (Golf 4 1.8T) - (Used)
- Intercooler 325 BMW - (Used)
- Oilcooler Fiat UNO turbo - (Used)

* problems

would the stock internals of m10 block hold for 8 PSI boost & how much HP would i gain

* cost:
- Engine block = 265 USD
- Mega = 350 USD
- Turbo T3 = 70 USD
- injectors = 35 USD
- Intercooler = 55 USD
- Oilcooler = 35 USD
- boost guage = 35 USD
- Pipping = 90 USD
- cost of mechanic = 90 USD

Total cost around = 1025 USD

Option 2:

replacing my engine with 1800 IS E-36 140 HP

* problems

- new engine mounts
- E-36 radiator
- E-30 oil suit
- will the M10 gear box (5 gears) fit the M42, or i will have to install the gear box of the IS engine & installing the IS gearbox will make me unable to read the KM guage on the stock E-21 guages.

* Cost

- Used IS engine = 615USD
- Custom Engine mounts = 60 USD
- E-36 Radiator = 175 USD
- Oil suit = 90 USD
- cost of mechanic = 90 USD
- Electrician = 35 USD

Total cost around = 1065 USD

option 3:
replacing my engine with 2500 M20 engine 170 HP

* problems

Finding the front brakes & suspension of E-21 six cylinders is almost like hell & it costs around 270 USD
Finding E-21 6 cylinders gearbox is also like hell, which is the only way i can read the KM on E-21 guages.

* cost:
- Engine block = 790 USD
- cost of mechanic = 90 USD
- Electrician = 35 USD
- Custom made radiator = 80 USD
- Engine Mounts = 25 USD
- Brakes & Suspension = 270 USD

Total cost around = 1300 USD

So the options are so much different and the cost is almost within the same range .... but the easiest way would be to remain the engine i have & turbo charge it (I guess) i have no idea about turbocharging engine .... but the cost is less than the other options & i assume that the power is going to be more than 170 on a 8 PSI boost.

But would the stock block of M10 engine holds for 8 PSI & what is the estimation of power gained from this setup.

Thanks in advance for your answers which will truely help me in finding the best direction i could take.

Thanks & Regards

Different M10's had different compression ratios. 8psi is pushing it but if its well intercooled and running standalone then shouldnt really be a problem
decompression plates are very cheap on german ebay but not sure if they are all that good, would make it safe to run the 8psi though

I have a spare turbo inlet manifold for an M10 if your interested and also a spare oil feed oilfilter head,

i say go down the turbo route, its definatly the most fun

actually austin, i have currently the low compression version which is the EY (Economy) i guess its 8.8 or 9 : 1

But because my current block is weak, therefore, i`m gonna search for another block because re-building my current block will cost me alot.

However, for how much you wana sell your turbo manifold, is it custom made or new and which brand.

and what about the oil feed oilfilter head.

Thanks
