After the sandblasting there were som little things that needed tob e sorted. From under the filler came a welded in plate, very ugly, so it had to go. Besides that some little holes surfaced, duet o rust. So I sorted those problems.

Welded in plate.

Cut out and prepared a donor.

Welded in.

And back in the epoxy

While fitting the other roof, one of the welds did not came out great. It wasn’t nice and even, had some holes and was just ugly to se. Ofcourse fille can do lot, but I like a little filler on my car as possible, so I bought a tinplating kit.

Image

Sanded and sandblasted the epoxy off and tinplated it.

Image

Sande dit and it came out very nice (for doing this for the first time…)

And in the epoxy

Image

Also the corners in the sidewindow, at the B pillar and Cpillar I’ve tinned. Here all E21 will rust in the end, I hope this will prevent that!

In the floor section, left, a lot of rust left a unflat and very thin piece, also with some holes in it. So I tinplated it, making it thicker and stronger and above all, seal the holes

To finish the work on the “sandbasting suprises” I welded up somes little holes.

And some pics from the underside of the car.

And this is how she sits in the garage for now.

And I started on sealing all the seams. Did the front, maybe later this week the engine bay. After glueing up all the seams, it's getting closer to paintworks!

Welll, lots of dust on this topic… I was very busy lately, so no time form y 323i. Last Thursday, however, I had a day off and I’d spent the whole day working on my e21.

Arnold D’s 323i is sitting in my garage since last December for winterrepairs. Very usefull for compairing the two, so I can build mine the right way. I discovered 2 holes that mine doesn’t have. I quickly found out that thats because I fitted a donorpiece frome 318A without powersteering. That’s what those holes are for, for mounting the filterunit.

Image

So a quick measure and marking and I drilled the holes. Better now than after the paint.

Image

After that I went on with the sealant. Sealed the caps in the bootfloor.

And the big cap.

Inside the car aswell.

And some seams and edges.
