Ill show you how its done
There's lots more work to do still. Lots of measuring and welding my pedal box / making brake calipers for fitting these badboys (on the left) will prove a challenge. I just hope it all clears my rims.

They are rx7 twin turbo calipers. Rx7 owners don't need to upgrade brakes till they hit 500hp or go full on racing. When I had my rx7 a few years back I used to be able to brake so hard it actually hurt.
The wilwood are brilliant on my car.. but as Im removing the booster I need more co efficient / pad area and greater leverage hense big disc. I hope this works out to fit straight on under my rims.

Soo much nicer, with the new painted bay, really worth doing. Those brakes are huge they will be extra safe for your car! Good good

Are you going to make up new brackets to mount the Wilwoods to the rear?

I would have done Ben. But as the wilwood are for vented disks there's no vented rear that you can get for a reasonable price. And as they don't have a hand brake provision it might be a right pain figuring that out. For now ill stick with the stock rear while I get the other jobs done.
When I get round to it. I might end up using the rear calipers off an e30 and using a more grabby pad.
Or find a 300mm rear non vented disc and then use the rear rx7 calipers. They have built in handbrake and so perhaps it might work if I can find a disc that can be redrilled or comes as a 4x100.

Could you use 4x4 e30 vented rears?

I read somewhere that they have vented rears. But I couldnt find any on car parts site.

I decided not to run vented rears. Pointless on a road car.
I'm not even sure my rx7 / mini cooper s works' discs front brake upgrade will work either lol the disc offset is a lot less so Im worried about the load on the front bearings.
I may end up just ordering the brackets / bells from massive lee.

thought i would update my thread.
Its been a while (maybe 6 months?) since i did anything with this car, its been at bogg brothers for storage over winter and at the same time they did the final welding and strengthening of my brake bias pedal box.
]It still needs finishing because the pedals sit maybe an inch too fowards so i was going to space the masters forwards to move the pedals back a bit. I need to work out how jerry rig the accelerator cable too.
I still have a lot of braided brake lines to make / fit - but then I think i am going to cheat and use some motorbike ones. Decided to get some bulk head fittings so that if there is ever a problem or want to change something its easy to work on..
Really happy with bogg bros' work on this actually. the pedal box is a rock solid assembly


Last weekend the car was delivered to Mals custom classics body shop - following on from some of the rust repairs that i did (around the chassis rails / front windscreen and back of the sills) i found i couldnt get a match for the 30 year old faded paint. Besides I felt the car deserved a full on body resto seeing as I am doing all this mechanical work too.
car was stripped of all the interior and panels



cleaning sills and bay back to bare metal





some crusty edges were found and repaired -
this is the bit where the sill meets the inner wing next to the drivers side floor.

and fixed!!

this is under the rear window screen - i was shocked to see a scab there as there was no signs of any rust .


Ill keep the thread updated as the work goes along.

Going to be another cracking UK e21 when it's finished. Minimal rust repairs too!
Another car that looks stunning is Aydin's (Lemonayd) I saw it now that it's had new chassis rails, front panel etc etc and look factory fresh.

Ayds car was in really good condition last time I saw it.
Just shows you really... I always say there's no such thing as a mint e21.
Even mine had some issues but as you say minimal. hopefully after all this work I'll be able to say it is mint and mean it

You haven't been exactly hibernating then! Looks good! The brake setup will make a huge difference, for any car but especially for UK cars with the stock
brake linkage
