Re: The Surfers New Board
Bit of a pictorial update..
Unfortunately one of the locking collars on the shocks collapsed after hitting a pothole and the car whilst going out for dinner, not ideal but got the car trailered back home..

Insurance agreed to pay out and here's the car being trailered to Mick at Pristine:

At Mick's the damaged wheel arch, and both rear shocks were replaced for GAZ Gold shocks. Here's the car once returned and a few from Gaydon the other day:

Had a good laugh at Gaydon, the drive back with Darren, Kiri and Reg was also a good laugh. Plenty of craning necks watching the mini convoy driving back to London. Would be good to get a larger convoy going next time too.

Re: The Surfers New Board
Your car was getting plenty of positive comments on Sunday and it was looking lovely. Great colour! In fact, when you consider we had 14 really nice e21's there, interest in e21's is really on the up.

Was nice to see it again - Everyone was commenting on how nice the colour is !!!
Just one thing, why is the profile on your tyres so big ?

Defo agree mark interest is on the up. Was an enjoyable day all round and good to catch up with you all.
Mobster. I chose the profile after a lot of head scratching and after discussion with Rasb1 decided to go for that profile. Smaller profiles are far more readily available but I sought those tyres out for both front and rears. I'm happy with the look and the drive (comfortable despite being so low) and also the wheels are protected far more from pothole damage and the like. I personally love the look of the bigger profile tyres. One day I may change them but at the moment I'm feeling the period look!

It's a PIA when you live with driving an e21 on BBS every day. I have bought Gator rim protectors but what profile did you go with?Silver Surfer wrote: the wheels are protected far more from pothole damage and the like.
I bought a staggered set of Minilites yesterday. 7 & 8 x 15's with et13. Just having them diamond cut but still not decided on tyres yet.

I went for 195x50 for the fronts and 215x50 for the rears (for 7.5 fronts and 8.5 rears). It's the same set up as Rasb's, I was thinking seriously about 45's but at the moment I'm feeling this look! Btw what does PIA stand for?

Nice the car was fixed on time, couldn't see a difference before and after lol
That's what I was wondering... 14 E21's at Gaydon huh, well there's a start. Surely you guys must be able to get more E21 cans together in the UK!

You'd think so wouldn't you.Jeroen wrote: Surely you guys must be able to get more E21 cans together in the UK!
It's only very recently that people in the UK (other than the people here) have woken up to the e21. It's a forgotten model as people usually opt for either the 2002 or the e30 when looking at smaller BMW saloons. Things are changing though....slowly. 2 or 3 years ago there was only 2 or 3 e21's at Gaydon. As word spreads though. that number is bound to increase. E21's have been featured in several UK BMW magazines over the past 12 months too. As a result values are on the increase too. Another 323 sold this past weekend for £4 700. Another fully restored 323 is currently for sale at £10k. A lot of money but still less than the cost of restoration.
If we could be sure of everyone attending I would happily push for the car club to give us a more prominent position at Gaydon. Maybe either side of the road that leads in where the M3's were this year? Cars like Zans, Darrens & Nas' would make quite a sight as you enter the show.

Re: The Surfers New Board
Ok a bit behind on the developments on the mainland I guess, but the E21 has never really been hype or at least not the past 15 years. All in good time!
