Well, mine still works!! (Factory one!!!)
Although I think I should care for a new one to store for (sure to come) harder times...

it's still the original factor switch!!!?? has it actually ever been used? try using it a few times and see what happens.

unless the design for earlier E21's was different some how, and better?

Well, I don't know, may be it was...
My hazzard (red) switch (as well as the -violet- one for the antimist rear screen lines), have some cracks (not too deep yet, thank god) on them, but still work all right...
Well, I think I should start looking for a new hazzard switch...

So (in order to return to the thread): I will understand I drive an E21 when my hazzard switch will go off!!!!! (I 'll keep my fingers crossed NOT to understand this so soon...)

when you know that you have a fuel tank breather hose leakage, so you can't fill your car up without it taking a piss. and because fuel leaks are an MOT failure, when it's due an MOT you only have a small amount of fuel in there...just to be safe.

You know you drive an e21 when it costs you $800 a year to rego it and it is lucky to travel 1000km and when it does it gets flogged.

You have slightly newer BMWs that are better designed that also need your love (shocks, springs strut braces, brakes, LSD's, engine upgrades), but you pay $550 to put a new zorst on your e21 then pop it back in the shed till your ready to spend money on it again.

You know you should sell it and get an E30 or at least deregister it but....

NEVER, NO, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

...When you own a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T and work on it...
- but compare the leaky valve covers on unmachined heads with cork gaskets with the E21 M20 superb sealing

- You learn to appreciate and love the 4 wheel disc brakes of the E21 over the 4 wheeled drumed chewing gum brakes of the Challenger

- You miss steering with actual feel over the nasty dead feedback less and overlight recirculating ball Mopar steering

-Get fed up with how much the old DOdge rolls compared to your old E21 around corners

-After trying to tune the 6 pack Holley carburation you yearn for the robust simplicity of K Jetronic

-You're sick of 10 mpg average from the 7.2 litre big block and yearn for the days of 23-27 mpg of the E21 days

-You don't understand why a V8 engine sorting 6 pack carbs, a forged steel crank, 11:1 CR, 290 degree duration cams, cro moly pushrods will barely rev to 6000 rpm when the M20 E21 2.7 would be difficult to keep below 7000 rpm!

- you have a low tolerance for the rear solid axle of the Mopar crashing and thuding over road irregularities because you grew up with the 'sophisticated' semi trailing arms of the E21

When you total up how much you've actually spent on your 'cheap' BMW and find out that maybe it's not quite so cheap after all.

One quick blast on a sunny day makes it worth every penny! :D
