sorry, no video of a roaring V8 yet...
but still some little progress.
i started on a frame around the engine which will be covered with plates later on. The plates will have to be removable to have the rear of the engine accessible. otherwise its impossible to get to the spark plugs, exhaust and other stuff

then i welded 2 bars to add some strength so the body wont collapse when i cut out the floor. (only temporarily)

there was not enough space for the seat, pedalbox and the exhaust.

still need to cut out more of the "rear seat". not sure yet if i'm going to keep the original front chassis bars.

Haha less and less E21 left... but all for a good cause! Same as with the Pullingteam Admiraal car

I hope i can still keep the classic e21 look and feel to the car.
I dont think this puller is pretty. But sure is the only way to make it functional.
I'm neither a big fan of the looks of the famous polish team stw drift car, with the chopped roof.
But hey, style is personal!

Well I can only agree, both these are not my favorites either when it comes to appearance!

sorry guys, it has been a long time since my last update.
so here are some pics i forgot to upload.
I made some reinforcements to the original chassis bars. this is a pic from the bottom side of the car (car is upside down)
the bushing is for the uniball from the control arm.
after this i did some small things on the engine like chain tensioner, connecting rod bearings, and fitted the 740i oil pump (with all bolts loctite) and fitted the modified sump.
sorry i didnt take pictures of this, but it was like standard replacement.
so after this the engine went back in, on its mounts.

i am still figuring out the seat position, and still not sure if i have to cut out the rear seat.
i want to put the floor back in, and make the transmission mount, and tunnel. But to make all this i had to know where the exhaust would be.
so i went to the shop for some stainless steel.

chopped the flanges of the original 740i exhaust and started to make my first manifold ever.
tacked it all in place with my own mig welder. i will tig weld it later, but dont own a tig. maybe an option to do it with mig? with stainless wire? any experience here?

this is from last saturday, i will move on with the rest of the exhaust this, and the next couple of weeks.
cheers!

Best place i find for welding advice is here:
http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/
http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/stainless.htm
note you will prob need a shield gas with 100% argon and back purge the manifold with a second flow guage off the bottle, bung the end with wire wool, mesh or similar. but dont seal it or you will get welds blowing in your face
