Indeed a very nice Baur. The answer to your question is Yes. Here in Europe you still can order the seals for the Baurroof. It is not a cheap buy but they are available.

I believe a J.Baker has opened a topic about this. Otherwise you can search them at the original Parts list
off the BMW-dealers.

Offcourse these are european prices.

Good luck.

This is good to know. I will pass the word out amongst some Baur owners over here that have not been successful in finding roof seals.

I have heard from a few owners that would love to get their hands on roof seals. Is it a definate that they can still be had?

I checked with my local dealer and they are listed as "no longer availible" (have been for a few years now) and did not believe me when I told them they can be had in Europe. Dealers over here can be pretty wierd about tracking down parts and many are unwilling to do so. It's quite frustrating to say the least.

It Is indeed a little search for them. The problem is that it is going to be expensive because of the transportation towards the USA.
This company can provide them too and maybe the transportationcost are less. the most parts of them are genuine BMW parts also. I am not sure all of the seals are available but most of them should be.

They have the same prices as our local dealer. Be sure you download the PDF-files for the pictures(parts) and the prices. The PDF of the prices is the actual stock of parts at that moment.

Good luck

A member of one of the e21 forums over here evidently works at a dealership and is able to get roof seals. It's been at least 3 years since they were availible so this is great news for a lot of owners!

Hi!

At first place, excuse me for my english, I´ve to learn as soon as possible.

I´m a 23years old guy who lives in Spain.

I have a 323i Baur 01/1979 and I´m the second owner. The first one was my grandfather.
In my garage, I´ve too a 1983 323i, 2002 318ci and a 1981 Ford Capri 2.0...but my absolutely prefered is the 323i Baur e21 :D

I´ve been restoring it since the last 10years,when I inherit it in extremately poor condition.

More or less I´ve done:

-head gasket and all the oil gasket.
-all the filters (including Green air filter)
-new thermostat, temp sensor and timer switch temperature
-new WarmUpRegulator
-One injector
-Apex Springs with Bilstein shocks
-grooved and perforated discs with ferodo racing pads
-Castrol Dot4 break oil
-Always use Castrol GTX 15w50 oil
-new electric fan of refrigeration
-new Starter
-complete exhaust system original

Of course the engine runs perfectly and sounds georgeus :D I love it :D:D

-new paint in Stratosblau Metallic
-new soft top and soonroof with all the gaskets
-installed original Bavarian RDS radio removed from an E30 with new speekers
-Center console upholstered in black leather
-gear shift of wool from E23
-chromed side handled from E12
-new badges (BMW front,BMW rear and 323i rear)
-sport steering wheel from E28
-Sport seats in blue leather from E30 (but only temporaly, those are much more confortable and sports but...are not originals)
-BBS 15" alloy wheels from E30,but I think I´ll change for the original 14" chromed or the BBS-Mahle RS 14" I have at home...

Thanks!

I hope you enjoy it

Haven't posted here in a while. Nothing much has happened with my Baur, since the car is still in Atlanta, GA and I'm still in Puerto Rico. Hopefully the economy will improve soon and I can start fixing the car the way I want it.

I did drive it from Atlanta to the Vintage at the Vineyards event in North Carolina at the end of May (324 miles each way). Even though the engine is a bit tired, it made the trip without any problems.

Here are a couple of photos from the event:
