323 values are definately on the rise. Lancaster sent me a new agreed market value certificate today - £7 500

Before anyone breaks a finger in their eagerness to respond, I am not saying my car is worth that figure. Just that insurance companies have accepted that the value of e21's have gone up. I struggled to get them to accept anywhere near this value before but now they've set a precedent I can't see why anyone with a decent 323 couldn't get a similar value agreed. Obviously, I hope I never have to claim but it's good to know I'll get sensible money if I do. It also raises the level at which it would be considered an uneconomical repair. :D

Mark, did you declare all the modifications to your car (cosmetic as well as engine transplant etc?), if so did they raise the premium that you're paying for the insurance as well, or is it just the valuation that went up?

I need to send some photo's on to get my agreed valuation, just have never got round to it! At the moment they have it valued at a bog standard 1k

I declared every last nut and bolt tha had been upgraded. I had to wait a few days while they took it to their underwriters but, apart from £15 for the admin fee, the actual premium only went up by a tenner or so. I also keep all reciepts and list any maintenance / service work to try and keep the cars history as detailed as possible.

Time to start upgrading my brakes to Volvo 4 pots although first job will be to remove the yellow paint as it looks like Stevie Wonder applied it.

I might stick with yellow though?

Also going to start building up a new head with my recently aquired Shrick cam in an effort to find a bit more torque and break to 200bhp barrier.

Has anyone got any advice / experience of flowing m20 heads please?

I would've thought port matching (porting & polishing in old money) the head with your inlet/exhaust of choice would be the first move. As for other head work, always thought the 325i head was quite efficient as far as valve sizes go, so personally can't see much gain in trying to fit larger valves if that was also your plan.

Nope, more just flowing the head and possibly stronger valve springs I think? Obviously a vernier for the new cam and possibly a 6 branch manifold although I'm yet to be convinced with that one!

Mark no point in flowing the head unless you are going to drop big £ I was quoted 1k after given the flow data from here to CNC heads

id keep away from stronger valve springs unless your getting stronger billet rockers. they do have a tendency to snap!

its lucking sexxxxy your car.

my ins value is £750....... must be be a typo, theyve missed a 0 off the end!

Thanks Jason and for the comments guys.

Having spent the past hour or so reading up I came to pretty much the same conclusion re head work and springs. I'm just going to fit the cam and vernier for now. I might go the 2.7 route some day but I'm still hoping to supercharge it once Storm finalise the kit they're going to supply. On my current budget the cam and finishing the brake upgrade will just about wipe me out anyway!

Unfortunately it all comes down to funds mate. I'm having some medical issues at the moment so only get disability so plans for the SC or turbo are going to have to wait a while.

Totally un-related but I had a go in a Mitsubishi EVO 1V this morning. Bloody quick! It's not a car I would want to own really but must be one of the quickest point-to-point cars I've ever driven.
