Do you know what, I knew the risk and if they'd just been straight & civil I would have accepted my punishment and gone on my way. What I resent is the nonsense this guy was spouting and just how determined he seemed to be to try and nick me for something. He said I was ''committing fraud'' FFS! I was trying to ''make people think my car came from Germany'' - I bit my tongue at this point. He didn't like the ''crackle & pop'' on over-run and said I was ''lucky'' when all my docs turned out to be in order.

Ordinarily I would say the Police do a hard job in difficult circumstances but it's coppers like this guy that give the Met a reputation they could well do without. I did get pulled in Ladbroke Grove a year ago and the copper then said he wasn't going to nick me cos the plates ''looked nice''. :innocent

There's a link on e30zone to some legislation that might allow me to get away with it? If it does I'll be mailing a copy to the prosecuting officer. :thumbsup

That's bad luck, but I wouldn't be running German plates, why give them an excuse to pull you over! I want to offer as little incentive to pull me over as possible, so they don't go poking around the car and finding other things to do me for (cough, rear diff, cough)

Ive had a few run in's with the coppers when driving. 99% of the time they've been absolute wa&*%rs. Tottaly un-reasonable and making it out like your a full on criminal. They even stopped me outside my house, accused me of trying to break into my OWN car and then searched me and told me they were going to take me to the station for insulting a police officer as i said 'Are you having a fu*$king laugh?' I have zero respect for the police. Utter prats!

Got the carbonfibre door cars ready to fit to the race car along with Engellman mirrors. I might not have any driving talent but at least I can make it a nice place to sit!

forgive a complete ignorant (=me) but what is the e21 legion? Is it another forum? How can one be a member? I got in their website, but I couldn't understand how to register, it only gives an email adress...

I didn't know it's the same forum, I thought that the legion is a different one...

So see you there as well guys...

Oh, by the way, and, in order not to be out of subject:
Today I hope to take the car for a small drive, and possibly during the weekend another couple of times...So hopefully (if I don't forget the camera again) I 'll make some decent pics to upload...

Baur - I connected up the HT leads after realising the terminals had numbers on them so I didn't have to laboriously work out which plug went where. I flatted the primer on the bonnet, did more filler work on the passenger side rear arch - realised there was a dent into the swage line which was why I could feel a bump but couldn't quite find it. I also dismantled the drivers door card, removed door handle and nearly got the lock out.

Slug - I looked at it sitting forlornly in the garage with my replacement Baur hood sitting on its roof and vowed to get the Baur done so the slug can go to the workshop for more fettling/upgrades!
