Cars back from the welder. The price went up a bit though, he thought it would be £250, ended up coming in at £800!!! Found more than he'd expected. I think I'll get the mot work done before I get it painted. I'll get some pics up of the work so far.

Yeah. He really snuggled getting the tanks out, and every nut/bolt snapped or he had to grind off. So I think it was time more than anything. Haven't seen it yet as I'm working away!

I'm having e21 cold-turkey. I have everything crossed that MIB is back this weekend. The new carpet is going to have to wait though. The guys quoted £750!

750! My trimmer only charged me 200!

A few weeks back I destroyed my rubber guibo not long after I replaced the prop center bearing. I got my local trusted mechanic to swap my guibo out today. Much better now!

I retrieved some tools from the boot of my Baur which is waiting patiently for the paint to be finished off, then used the tools to take the drivers seat out of the slug so I can get at the brake cylinder that's leaking. I have a slider rail to go on it, but it naturally doesn't fit and I'll need to make something up to join the two together.

The quaife doesn't generate as much heat. That cover is worth it for the extra mounting point though.

I brought my welder and other stuff home from the (ex) workshop today, along with a load of metal offcuts to help sort the seat in the slug. Worked out a couple of ways to connect the seat to the slider rails, neither of which is too complex. Will need to go and get some argoshield for the MIG on Monday, but the job will take an hour at most once I have gas and the ability to make noise without waking children up! The seat only came out for me to look at the real showstopper for slug going to the trackday on Wednesday - the brakes. I'd figured out that the rear circuit Master cylinder was leaking, in fact squirting fluid, so it had to come out. Replacement is here, but as I started doing the job I realised why the labour charges for the build work on the car were enormus - it's a horrible job to do the pedal box. Managed to disconnect the lines from the cylinder, pop the rubber boot off and untwist the rod from the bias bar, but I need to cut the new one to fit (see comment RE noise!), then work out how to get in there to tighten the locknut onto the clevis with the rest of the cylinder in the way - don't want to split the new one. I remember when I shortened the rods previously it involved head under pedals, legs in air, lying in footwell for an hour - with my dodgy neck I'm not sure I'll be able to do that bit. So the brakes may still be a showstopper.

If I manage to get the new cylinder in, I can do the seats and probably do the fuel sender job (hole saw to fit it into the tank in the boot) on Monday, then sort transport and load on Tuesday - the slug comes to the track day. Otherwise it's the Focus :D

Picked up a pair of KN filters for my twin 40's as there's no gauze on the trumpets. Fitting tomorrow and also doing a quick oil change if the ground is dry. Doubt it as there's some massive hailstones coming down at the minute.

20 quid.. Bargain!
