popped home at Lunch time and nearly bunked off the afternoon to do some painting of front door- but responsibility got the better of me so instead I went back to office! But at least I took Herman out for a spin- since it was dry and I needed to take some more photos of those stripes:

Popped in to see South Coast- as I couldn't remember the setting for the fan override switch- connected to the foglight switch it has to come out 2 clicks to engage! Just goes to show how long since I have been out in Herman!

Still have no idea how it goes in extremis- I missed the trackday last Sunday through looking after children and gardening (you will gather that we haven't had such dry weather in months!)
So as usual I will only find out half way through the first event at the Manx Classic!

Looks sweet, ready for spring! I'm no fan of dechromed but on your car it just fits nicely, together with the painted bumpers.

Gorgeous car! In response to Jeroen, thirst thing I wandered when I saw the shadowline is, what this car would look like with the chrome trim!
But stunning car nonetheless!

As it was sunny I put the targa panel in the boot, folded the canvas, stuck the pram hood cover on and drove my Baur round the M60 to work, drove past the famous house with E21's parked outside on Middleton road and parked it at the hospital, did a days work then drove back with the roof down again. It makes a fantastic noise when I give it welly above 4k RPM, but is going seriously fast by the time the sounds come on stream. If the weather is nice tomorrow I'll do it again :D

Drove MIB to Brands Hatch and sat in the sunshine watching some excellent racing. RAW motorsports old 540 sounded awesome and went well too. Plenty of e30's and e36's and some classic Fords like a 3 litre Capri. I want to be out there myself next year in the 316.

Drove back in the sunshine and let the local Polish lads give MIB a wash & wax. Going for a run down to Somerset tomorrow for Retro Rides meet @ Brean Sands.

Waiting (can't wait is the right word...) to get back my electr.windows+locks switches housing upholstered in black leather.
Thinking of having the VDO gauge pod upholstered as well, if possible, I don't like it as it is, ugly plastic.

Ok, now a technical question...
Switches for windows are like E30 I think. Anyone have any idea how easy it is to open these switches, in order to change the colour filter so that they glow in E21 orange-red instead for this yellow-cream colour?

300 mile round trip to Retro Rides @ Brean Sands today. Early start meant we made Bristol (119 miles) in an hour and fifteen minutes which isn't too shabby for a 32 year old 3 series.

well worth the effort and expense in my view- we have had Herman's gauge pod and gearbox surround done in leather too

Whats with the bike computer topcat?

Also, have you any info on the gauges and panel they reside in? They look very fitting inside the cockpit - loads of gauges is always cool.

(sweet dash etc as well :thumbsup )

Well i pushed mine out of the unit on Saturday, looked at it for a bit, then proceeded to wash it without the wings, bonnet and front end on (neighbours must have think i'm a bit mental) then clayed the roof, boot and NS panels. Just need to finish off the other side and wax and polish the hell out of it. It'd not been washed in over 2 years! Poor car.

On Sunday Nas popped over to lend a hand (thanks mate) and watched in horror as my mate was painting my headlight rings. Here the result;

I think it works, how about you? The chrome had already worn off so nothing to lose.

Hi Jacko
I will post up the details of the VDO gauges (one of them is not wired up) But they read engine Oil Pressure, engine Oil Temp, Gearbox oil Temp, Amps, and back axle oil temp (not wired)
We needed the bike speedo in MPH to pass the Manx Test! See:
http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=15128
for whole story!
Gauges look good but are hard to read as well as being annoyingly Metric - I am more used to imperial numbers
