The new brake lines, 4,75mm in diameter, was placed underneath the car. I could not understand why the one to the rear of the car was to short. Since it was a 100% copy of the original… It turned out to be some 30cm or one foot to short.
So I got the original out again and fount in the crate a short piece, with a connection. That was the missing piece. But why??

Looking at pics of other cars learned me that there was some kind of thing were my line ended. Research showed that BMW, about one year after my car was build, had started to put in a brakepressure devider. A stronger brakeaction had lead to a overtaking rear of the car. So the came up with this solution. Since I fitted adjusted e30 brackets, I have more stopping power there. Reason to find that thing.
Here is a piece from a donor.
The distributor is bolted onto a bracket that is spotwelded onto the innerwing. Well, there will no more welding on my car, but first I’ve taken it all apart.

I sandblasted it, drilled two holesthat fit two holes in the inner wing (don’t know why they are there)
Devider sanded
And zincsprayed
And painted in the exact Até colourscheme

You must have had a lot of fun this afternoon
It is so good to revive things from the past, for me it was a great adventure until now, but yours has been quite a lot bigger. Respect for this tedious restauration!

Just read this whole topic on a slow day at work. You have the patience of a saint, both for the time taken to restore, and the time taken to document it for us, Thanks!

Wow! Just read the whole topic. Love the work you have done here.
I’m about to start a 1982 320/6 which is just as bad or possibly worse....I will also be learning to weld as I go but gives me encouragement and enthusiasm reading your progress
I’ll start a topic once I have some pics etc
