Taking part in 2012 Manx Classic
Taking a break until the roads close again at 6.00 tonight for round 2 of the action
all kinds of excitements:
1 The boats were all cancelled because of the terrible weather and the last 20 cars only made it in at 3.00 pm today
2 Monsoon conditions here
3 TVR Griffith driven by chum from Inverness had a suspension wishbone break- he did a 360 and smashed the wall at Governers Bridge= very unhappy chap- trying to persuade him to double drive a 308 from same team. He was car just ahead of me so my practice was red flagged
4 Despite all and some tough opposition Herman is actually leading the class
There is a sort of Pikes Peak Audi Quattro with 850 bhp- will photo later- only a bit quicker than Herman!
See

and
and
Great pictures -thanks Ian - who used to own a tidy E30 Racecar

Yes the GTD40 boys were all on the late boat- a great bunch they have been coming here for a while
anyway the latest..............
DISASTER
Herman's clutch let go big time powershifting in last run!!
I have some forlorn pictures of Herman on Tow truck
Dropped it off
then fixed one of my Jeeps (Fuel leak) and intend to use Cj for the sloc tomorrow- and if drier will try to get Butch sorted for saturday third event in Ramsey- beginning to rain hard again
Decided not to proceed with Herman as we have no spare clutch plates - nor do we know what type is required
I guess it is the torque that did for it!

745 clutch is what we're using. Should easily cope with big torque.

Went to pick up a race suit this morning and inside the workshop were several race prepared Group 2 CSL Batmobile. Also sat there was a genuine Group 5 e21. Lovely.

Hard to say really- since it was monsoon conditions- will post the vid from the grandstand
But it has raised the front by about 1/4 inch which means that it no longer hits underneath ; so I still don't really know what it does- although seemed more eager to turn in esp Lh
lots of excitments to recall today and yesterday
Sunbean Lotus went straight on at waterworks rolled several times and only stopped dropping 200 ft into sea by a tree! Photos to follow...............

first of all a dejected looking Herman:
and that Pikes Peak Audi monster:
And rolled Lotus Sunbeam:
And bearing in mind what was quoted in June Classic Cars mag- here is local CSL:

He has agreed value insurance @ £43k!!

we are on the case! BTW the local BMW dealership was hoping to promote the new 3 series with a spread featuring Herman- guess this will have to wait!

Must be, Alex is sort of Mark sized, is on 10/10ths and has right cars so has presumably provided the race suit to ensure fund raising goes ahead.
