as some of you might have guessed, i'vew been spending too much time cleaning the car, trying to get the paintwork in good order. i've decided for the next month or 2, if i've got a day free on the weekends, i'm going to do do a good polishing job on a panel at a time, followed by some sealant and some coats of paste wax. this weekend i did the boot, it was far and away the worst panel on the car. i don't know how, but it had lots and lots of fine scratches (i mean lots!). unfortunately no before shots, but after lots of work, i managed to get about half of them out. this is the result of:
wash, clay, polish (lots of hard work!!), some deep cleaner, 2 layers of long life sealant, and 1 layer of paste wax.

it's still not quite as good as i'd like it, but i'm going to leave it as it is for now, do the bonnet, the roof, both wings, then each door at a time, then back 1/2 or whatever before coming back to the boot for one last attempt. my aim is to get every panel looking like, or better, than this. there is no way i could do the whole car in 2-3 days with the way i want it done really, that's why i've decided to just do a panel at a time (but maybe give the car a quick 30min wash before hand)
what ya think?

thanks hannah, means a lot. it's taking ages, and to get it to the standard i want it, it will take a good 2 days to do just 1 panel, so i've made sure the whole car is well waxed so it doesn't need any maintenance in the mean time, so i can just take it 1 stage at a time. if i had a garage and a 2nd car i could get it done much quicker though!! going to "thetomc"'s house this saturday to get 323i front calipers fitted so may not get time to do anything this weekend, but will keep this thread updated as and when i do.
some twat nearly hit my car this morning, i was in the outside lane on a 2 lane road (40mph limit) traffic on inside lane was stopped, i was moving about 30mph, and someone pulled out of a side road into the stopped lane, but just carried on and nearly took me out!! i had to swerve into the wrong side of the road, or my E21 would have been written off, i don't think they missed me by more than 1-2 inches. still....it lives another day. i've done 600 miles in the last week though
want to start lowering its mileage!
