That'll clean up nicely. A bit of crackle black on the rocker cover and clean up the inlet manifold maybe?

Yeah, im gonna give it a reet nice clean up and a lick of paint. Dont know about that crackle stuff tho, reminds me of the jap tuning scene. Gonna give the engine bay a going over too with some fresh paint, although it'll just have to be the best match i can get as BMW dont do my colour anymore :(
Got this sunday off so im thinking about making a start on things. I was gonna wait till summer but it would be nicer actually having the car done so i can get the most out of the weather (If and when it arrives)

Engines just on a pallet at the mo, is it ok just sitting on the sump ?

Where do you run the wire for the battery to boot conversion ? Does it need a hole in the firewall then running under the drivers seat and into the back ?

You can take it the throught he car and get a hole in each bulk head or take it under the car and just a hole in the boot floor.

I cut absolutely nothing installing a battery cable in my E21. Force it through the grommet next to the scuttle where all the wiring goes into the car, run it along the inside sill, under the seat frame work, up and into the boot where the rear seatbelt reels are bolted down. My cable was from an E36. I take photos of the most mundane things...

It's not that I'm adverse to cutting, I'm all for it! I have to hole saw my bulkhead for the M50 ECU loom soon...

That looks good. Ive got the battery wire but think i need that little junction box with the red pos sign on it. What did you attach it to in the boot for the grounding ?

Mine just bolts to the body on the panel behind the seat back iirc.

Mine is bolted by a top mount nut.

I used cable off ebay, a battery terminal I already had, and also from my pile of collected bits a little black junction box with two 10mm studs in which I have screwed on where the ignition amplifier thing used to be. Cable runs the same way as the others. I have stuck some spare fuel hose and the outer rubber sleeve off the MIG torch I recently took off my welder for an upgrade. The hose and torch sleeve are protecting it from any potential chafing where it comes through the rear bulkhead, under the seats or under the carpet - figured there was no harm in it.
