I'd rather read about a car that gets used and has a few battle scars than a pretty, only comes out in the sun, prima donna type car any day. Gotta say, I hope you don't decide to sell it.

Just realised I picked up my car a year ago today!
Going to give it a clean tomorrow ready for Gaydon - so long as it stays dry long enough!
Monday it finally goes into the bodyshop to have the spoiler repaired along with the o/s wing and a new bumper from BMW. The new engine is at the machine shop having some final ''adjustment'' and is going to be dropped in on the 23rd. I'm also fitting the quick-shift and an oil cooler. If all goes to plan the alloy rad and split rims will be ready to fit soon after. m3gaz has put me in touch with a guy who is going to build the rims up for me with all new bolts but I'm going to polish them up while they're still in bits. I'm not sure just how much of a shine you can get on magnesium alloy though as magnesium is white? I'm still waiting on the arrival of the front ARB from Oz but it's coming by ship so will probably take a while yet.
Anyway, am looking forward to an e21 convoy on Sunday! I'll take a camera and try and take some video footage too!

magnesium isnt white it just burns white,
and as an alloy it will still be mostly aluminium,
are you polishing the centers aswell as the dish's?

Magnesium is white and that has nothing to do with how it burns. It's for this reason that, unless there's 20% magnesium or less in the alloy, you can't polish it to a mirror finish. 2 different companies have confirmed the fact and the second directed me to their website which has proved useful.

Just dropped my car over to the bodyshop so the damage to the spoiler and front wing can be sorted and re-painted. I could have just paid for the repair myself but my friendly insurance assessor reckons I need a new bumper so it's been well worth me paying the £100 excess instead. The day it's due back from paint I drop it over to Dave @ RPM for the new engine to be dropped in. My old engine then goes on a pallet up to Scotland to go into Millars car which he's converting.
My split rims are going off the be built up with new bolts etc this week too. I'm going to go for anthracite centres rather than black, with polished outers and gold bolts. Something a bit like this...
I also bagged myself some nice 80's hi-fi at Gaydon yesterday. I'm hoping to have the head unit converted with an ipod input. It's all the same year as my car so should look right at home in an e21 dash!
I remeber when hi-fi's were nothing without a ''graphic''
Pair of matching speakers
I've always loved remote controls on a wire!

My car.
They're being polished, built up with gold bolts and anthracite centres first though. Mind you, maybe orange bolts would work?
