I want to get the car done by Christmas - may enlist Shaun the bodywork man to paint it as I doubt I can paint to his standard even if I take a year doing it!

I'll stick it on the ramp and get the gearshift prop and exhausts done, as long as I can get into the unit when the ramp is free. Might persuade Wifey to let me do it next Sunday. I will also put the new track rod ends on so that when it fires I can try driving it around the car park :o

It's definitely at the stage where one more days work will see it running, as long as I have the bits.

Any idea what size cone filter you used for yours - that air box is far too bulky for my liking.

Coolant expansion tank - I had one but can't find it anywhere
An alternator adjuster mechanism - it's basically the same as the one on the PAS pump and I can't find the PAS pump adjuster.

All these parts will be found the day after Rob posts the bits to me of course.
Anything else for the list? When is it needed? You'd save a lot of couriering costs if you ordered them all in one go!!

It's still cheaper than buying new ones from BMW though!

I'll do a bit more fettling tomorrow evening and let you know if there's anything else I need. Any idea when you will be able to send the bits up??

Jim

You haven't asked for anything drastic so there's a good chance they are off the cars ready to go, easily by this weekend - next day couriers make life so easy...

Found the pipe and tank, I need to get a alternator bracket off. Last orders will be 5pm tomorrow! I won't be going back to the farm before the end of the week. If you want to pick the items up from Stoke on Saturday night/Sunday morning instead that's another option, I can't make any deliveries unfortunately.

I'm in Stoke on Wednesday then 4/5th December but will be busily working. best to send in the post.

I'll be at work until after 5 tomorrow so I'll PM you in the morning if I think of anything else I need and you can just get these bits on the way. If I discover more stuff I need, so be it!

I am now working4/ 5th unfortunately.

will be down at the unit tomorrow, hopefully Rob is coming with bits for me. Also likely to meet Creedon - new owner of Alan's 1977 316, hopefully Arshad will be coming to see us - I have a set of steel wheels he may have for winter use, and it is possible that Jacko will put in an appearance.

I think you deserve to be there when it fires up, so we'll definitely sort something out.

In principle that's a cracking idea. Ramp will be clear (my focus going on it for steering rack tomorrow then nothing else) and Rob should have dropped off the bits. Just need an engine earth strap and some belts from halfrauds. Will need a bit of persuasion of Wifey if I am there tomorrow and Sunday too, maybe just afternoon - likely to be horrifically cold in the morning anyway!

I'll let you know tomorrow. For now I am drinking Cragganmore, eating mince pies (actually been in the freezer since last Xmas!) and watching the cricket!

Earth straps are cheap even at Halfrauds and it;s at the end of the road, so I'll get one tomorrow.

Hmmm maybe it'll be running and ready for MOT this weekend :D
