WOW ! ! !

Nice project! I bet it's like a Viper in terms of "smokability" of the tires.

As for us US guys, you're right - we don't get 98 at the petrol station.

But most of us use 93 oct.

The 91 is reserved for tree-hugging states like California.

That's why STis and WRX Imprezas are more powerful in states with lax laws.

In NC, I can buy race fuel and pump it straight into my tank (110 oct). Perfectly legal unless I get caught by the Department Motor Vehicles.

haha yes, everythings legal till you get caught!

if you know the right people here, you can get avgas filled into tins and some guys have been known to run that on the street (or a partial mix). its got quite a distinctive smell though, so you wouldnt want mr policeman wandering by when you're idling at the traffic lights...

i used some of the waste fuel from the lemans team i work for once in my ford fiesta i was running around in at the time, think its 114 octane or near, anyway needless to say it made the car much faster.

updates...
between designing my custom fron suspension and getting prices etc, i've been doing a bit of DIY. i got a bit carried away with the angle grinder and cutting wheel making room to fit recaros in the rear seat area, cut out the tyrewell to make some room for my diffuser, found some rust in both sides of the boot so cut that out too, and cut out the fuel filler (which was previously just fibreglassed over). there is going to be a bit of welding to get it all back in one piece, but should be good when done. im going to have a rear strut brace welded in and some more reinforcement while im at it too.

How much do you pay for cutting discs? I'm lucky, I've got a proper old-school engineering shop 5 mins from me, do all sort of sheet metal/fittings and the like (think of the shop out the Two Ronnies 'Four Candles' sketch), I can get TUV-tested cutting discs for 87p each (box of 10 for a tenner), when H*lfords (hair rises on neck) charge about £2 for an inferior Chinese equivalent!
