your forgetting these are "bmw" plug leads. ie designed to last a 100 years.....

some £39 silicone core halfrauds ones dont even compare.

ive seen it 100 times with cars at work.

Ditched the so-called performance HT leads ( maybe they were being ironic? ) and fitted the new, decent quality one. Jobs a good'un! No more misfire and the engine is way more responsive now its getting good, fat sparks. It almost has a 2 stroke sort of sound with the 6 branch. Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking it for a blast down to the speed trial in Brighton on Saturday.

Getting the train to Rhyl tomorrow to pick up my 316. It's never left the village it lives in for the past 10 years so 200 miles home might be a bit of a shock.

Got my split-rims on and the ARB's fitted. I love the way my car feels through the bends now. If you can get them, it's money well spent.

Finally got the ARB's on along with some decent rubber. ARB's have made quite a difference and car certainly seems flatter through the corners. Apart from a few interior jobs to do, the orange car is finally finished. I think...

good tyres them! how much? ive got two on my fronts for the road wheels. cost me £80 each inc vat.
i buy second hand shit rear tyres on ebay tho to offset the cost of decent fronts! lol.

Your not far off what I paid Murran. I think they're awesome tyres. Just need to be a little more careful for the first mile or two though. I bet they're ideal as fronts for your purposes. I love coming off motorways and watching the car behind trying to stay with me. :lol:

They look pretty Nas. :lol: Seem to work well enough with Greenstuff pads too. Would rather have had AP though tbh.

hahahaha yeah the rear end stepping out i can deal with! :twisted: so long as the front stays planted!

theyre really good tyres tho.
do watch it in the wet. theyre quite good still, grip wise, but dont deal well with standing water at 50+mph tbh. ive had mine aquaplane a few times....

brakes are for whimps!

Started fitting the new gauges today. They're not a bad fit and just need some minor detailing really. I'm going to get another set for the TWR. The sender units I already have fitted for the old TiM gauges seem to work fine too.

Apart from that I'm just enjoying driving it really. The new engine is great and being the child that I am, I love the performance and the noise it makes. The only things left to do are things that don't cost fortunately. I need to save hard to get the TWR back on the road.

Before India call asking if they can please use my rear footwell for the 100m butterfly I figured I should trace the leak I have whenever there's heavy rain.

I don't think I've ever removed a carpet and tried to keep in in one bit with no rips. It's much harder than just tearing it out that's for sure!

The good thing is that with no carpets I have been able to give the floorpans a thorough inspection and there are no hidden nasties. It's all rock solid, lovely metal. :D

Of course now that the carpet is out its lovely warm sunshine which means I am going to have to drive about with no interior for a while. So, the sensible thing is to use the opportunity to dye my lovely beige carpet black. I've laid it out in the garage to finish drying properly whilst I get 5 litres of black cold water dye. I'm also going to get the rear seat back to fit properly by removing some of the inner metal frame.

I also fitted a nice new battery. My old one is only 18 months old but was already struggling to hold a charge. So much for Bosch batteries. I would have returned it but I never got the warranty slip when I bought the car. The new battery was just £45 online with next-day delivery which seems pretty good value to me.

Since I got my car back prior to Santa Pod it's been running really well. I replaced the horrible Max-power 4 prong spark plugs with NGK's and a new set of leads but apart from that I've just been enjoying driving it. Once I get the interior finished it will be pretty much done although there's always stuff to tinker with I guess?
