I love the new format of this forum! It's especially awesome to finally have an owners gallery. There are some great E21s on here for sure.
Here a couple of pictures of my current project car:
As always, comments, questions, suggestions as well as complaints are all welcome.

Looks FAB!!

I don't really have any suggestions - it's just about perfect the way it is... Personally, I like E21's best with period styling like yours, rather than kitted out with modern alloys and styling kits that don't suit the classic BMW lines...

But one little question : what's the story with the Danish export numberplate on the front of your E21? (Just interested as I'm from Denmark myself ;-) )

Hey. Great question. I was told by the owner I bought it from here that the Danish plate was the one on it when it was imported in the late 80's. That's about all I know.
It's unusual to see 'original' european plates over here, it gets a lot of attention. Legally, I 'have' to display our VA state plate on the front as well.. but I refuse.

Hi Rachel

Good to see some new pictures of your 323i!

As your might recall I was also surprised to see the danish export plates on your car when I first saw it in the old forum. Unfortunately I wasn't able to work out who owned the car back here in Denmark.

In Denmark you wouldn't be able to go very far with a US plate on the car without being pulled over!

Regards,
Peter

Hi Rachel

Hehe... i'm allso from Denmark, and recognised the danish plate right away, hehe.
Back in 84/85 i lived i San Diego with my parents (i was only 3 years old), and my dad had an E30 318i shipped to California, and it had the exact same type of plates, hehe.
BTW the numberplate is an export plate as Anders wrote. It is not simmilar to the plates we have in Denmark, but allmost:

The export plate is for danish citizens in other countries than Denmark can drive in their car free of danish tax. It is only for a certain amount of time :-D

Rachel, some quick questions regarding your 323i and registering the car in VA. I am looking at a 323i here in Northern VA and I am trying to figure out how to register the car in VA.

Does your car have cats? Did you run into any problems registering it? etc.

NoVa,

I sent you a PM regarding registration stuff. My car does not have cats. I get it inspected through a local place run by a good friend.. just to stay on the safe side. But I believe, because of the age of the car, I can get away with it just fine. I'm not really familiar with all the rules and regulations. I've always lived in a rural area and relied on friends to help me out with my sketch cars. :-)

Let me know if there's anything else I can help ya with.

Rachel
