How to get extrapower for my 320is?

Hi!

I'm new here. I have a 320is E30 '89 and I would love to know from you how to start improving tha engine.

In suspensions and braking, it's already modded. It have Koni Sport adjustable schocks and -4cm Eibach Springs with front and rear strut bars. For brakes I have Goodridge braided lines.

So, i have bought the car a year ago, and now that I have managed to begin enjoying it, I would live some advice from experienced people...

Hi, first off, nice 320is what colour is that? It also looks like you have alot of parking tickets from your picture!!

With engine mods there is quite alot that can be done but they are quite expensive.

The main things on our engines are the lack of torque. I think the best upgrade is getting rid of the AFM (air flow meter) and going with a different ECU (Maxx, alpha-n, Motec, etc...). This mod gets rid of most of the restriction in the intake and free's up a bit of power and mainly Torque.

To be honest you need to be spending about $1500 to get anywhere.

With the new ECU there is the option of fitting more aggressive cams and also getting work done to the head.

You might also want to check out, www.s14.net this place is great for anything to do with the S14 engine, word of warning make sure you do a search first otherwise they will get annoyed with you and tell you to search. If you have any problems let me know.

Well, the color is Calypsorot-metallic (or calipso red), and that car is a 316i Edition model. That is my other E30 on a national tuning festival in Portugal(so the papaers in the window are publicity for the Portuguese BMW club).

The wheels are RH ones from 1990 (ET 13) with the 205/55/15' tires. Bought then coloured diamond from a Renault 19 in scrapyard and send them to get alligned and polished.

Another point of advice that might get you extra power at low cost: make sure the entire intake is in bloody perfect condition. Gaskets, hoses, o-rings, connections, have the injectors cleaned, make sure a thorough throttle body synch is performed both mechanically and on vacuum... I found with many S14's things were only so-so... big gains just around the corner, especially when you're talking torque.

Did several tests recently showing that S14's with a factory CO tend to run slightly lean at high rpm's. This is the case if you stick to a CO of 1.00% max. Of course this depends on what's allowed in your country but putting CO (at idle) at abt 2.00-2.50% will prevent the engine from running lean in higher RPM's... running to the rev limiter much stronger!
